To Be Alive
To be alive is to let the Infinite awaken
within the ordinary.
It is to discover, again and again,
that existence itself is the universe
blossoming into consciousness.
To be alive is to awaken each morning inside the miracle
of an unfinished song, with your heart learning
new ways to sing.
It is to gather sunlight and sorrow alike,
discovering that both become sacred when held
with an open heart and soul.
It is to remember that you are both the dream and the dreamer,
forever unfolding in the boundless mystery of existence.
We are moving through difficult times,
all of us are.
Wherever we live, whatever we have or don’t have,
our lives are challenging,
things are shifting.
But there is one thing that is for certain,
and that is: we are alive.
Feel yourself breathing.
Feel your body.
Take a few deeper, slower breaths,
And feel yourself alive.
Invite yourself to pause.
Give yourself some time to disconnect
from all your busy-ness, for an hour or two,
or even a whole day!
Feel into what really matters to you.
“Count your blessings”
And “Take one day at a time.”
Become more aware of your emotional consciousness
of what each day and each interaction
feels like.
With deep intention,
consider the gift of being alive
in ways you hadn't considered before.
What do you notice?
What do you feel?
You might begin to experience
that just being alive is
far more extraordinary than you
had realized.
For You are alive!
This is not to be taken for granted,
for it will not always
be so.
