After moving for at least 5 times from one country to another,i always run into the same problem. It does not matter how i feel, or how fast i learn the language. Wether i am happy or not has no bearing on my progression in any country. Always in the first month there is the culture shock that can not be avoided, the mis understandings and lonelyness are also things that are normal. But then there is that SWITCH moment as i call it where all of a sudden you can not imagine it to be anything different than what it is. Al of a sudden you can not remember the time you took to melt into the spirit of the country,or the counsciousness. Now because it happens al of a sudden and you do not remember when it happens i am wondering how long it might take me this time around on the island of Puerto Rico. The cultural clash is huge, me coming from Europe where everything is calculated, the country Belgium where there is no cultural music, where people work untill they drop dead. Here i am on a island where they rather do things tomorow instead of right now, where music is a way of living, here it seems time stood still and religion is ever present. So my scientific mind is curious on how long it will take me to blend, so i can go on with my life instead of being in a storm of contradictions and nightmares.

    • Hey, Cedric, no matter where you go, that's where you are. LOL It's for sure the one person you cannot avoid is yourself, huh? Just messin' with you.

Like Shelly, I've been a gypsy for most of this lifestream, and there is an adjustment to be made, but, you're a strong man with great values, and I'm confident you'll make that adjustment just fine. Puerto Rico sounds like quite a party place. It seems to me from the Latinos I've known, they're very lighthearted.

      • Lol...they are lighthearted alright. But more lightheaded and things do not move at the speed i want them to move...lol...
        • ~PRT bro. = Puerto Rican Time~ LOL! good luck with that, & don't be surprised if you start to get a new swing in your hips living out there! ~eat, drink, sleep: rhythm!~ hee,hee... oh, & i've found, doing a bit of cultural background studies (as in, who 'conquered' the indigeneous population/their cultural influence ~if applicable~ & that initial regional meld..) may help move you from "nightmare" to a more understranding/functional "waking dream" mode. you know, tricks of the trade kinda thing. i wish you well, you globetrotter you!
          • ps. to clarify, by "tricks of the trade" ( probably poor choice of words :0/ ), i simply mean, getting a better understanding of how to mesh your personal ryhthm into the regional one, so things can move more at a "speed" your comfy & successful with~ ya dig? :0)
            • Lol i get it...I was raised in a very convencional way with rules and laws that 95% of the people follow. Here it is the wild west, lol. And yes i need to get more loose,Caribean way...Manana(tomorrow) is a word i need to use more, Or maybe i can start singing Hacuna mattata al day long...long. No worries i will get the hang of it. Seems time has no meaning here so the message is, cool down do tomorrow what you can do today, have a beer and relax, it is to hot annyways.:)) The hip swinging is interesting though, shure is diff than the wooden way people walk in Europe...lol.
        • Ain't it the Truth, Cedric. I guess we Lightworkers are all a little weary and looking for some positive results, huh? Soooooon. lol
