Sometimes, certain types of people get freaked out and you are not one of those types, friend...People in Eisenhower's generation smoked too much, ate the wrong food and drank a lot (even the claimed "teetotalers")...They were also terrified of offending the church and their suppositions as to what God was and how he would react to their "sin."
