UFOs have long been depicted in paintings and even caves. Shannon sends in four historical examples. Details appear below.

Pic 01 – This is the painting titled “The Baptism of Christ” painted in 1710 by Aert De Gelder. There are many strange UFO’s and Alien beings in ancient art but none as clear as this one. You see in the sky an undoubtedly space craft shining down on Christ. It could be interpreted as God or a Godly being such as an Angel but its uncanny resemblance to a common UFO space craft or flying saucer creates much doubt that it was meant to be a Godly being

Pic 02 – This is the painting titled “The Madonna with Saint Giovannino” a painting from around the 15th century most likely painted by Domenico Ghirlandaio. The painting depicts Mary mother of Jesus looking down while in the background you can see a clear picture of what appears to be a UFO flying above while a man on a ledge blocks the sun with his hand and stares at the strange flying object in the sky.

Pic 03 – The painting on the left was done by Carlo Crivelli (1430-1495) and is called “The Annunciation with Saint Emidius” (1486) and hangs in the National Gallery, London. A disk shaped object is shining a pencil beam of light down into Mary’s crown chakra. A blow up of the object is next to the painting.

Pic 04 – Broadsheet picture by Samuel Coccius illustrates many flaming and “large black globes” that were reported to have appeared in the skies over Basel, Switzerland in 1566. From the Wickiana Collection, Zurich Central Library, Switzerland.

Pic 06 – This is a tapestry called Summer’s Triumph It was created in Bruges in 1538 and presently resides at the Bayerisches National Museum. You can clearly see several disc shaped objects in the top of the tapestry.

Pic 1 – This image is entitled “The Assumption of the Virgin” by ANON. Painted c.1490. Once again notice the discoidal clouds

Pic 2 – Many paintings by Piero Della Francesca, including the picture on the left, “The Baptism of Christ” (1450), contain lenticular shaped clouds that many believe to be UFOs.

Pic 3 – This is an illustration from a book “Ume No Chiri (Dust of Apricot)” published in 1803. A foreign ship and crew witnessed this strange object at Haratonohama (Haratono Seashore) in Hitachi no Kuni (Ibaragi Prefecture), Japan. According to the explanation in the drawing, the outershell was made of iron and glass, and strange letters shown in this drawing were seen inside the ship.
