Got an iPhone or Smartphone?
Google Android phone transmits user locations to Google headquarters several times each hour, similar to the Apple iPhone. The iPhone & iPad allow anyone with access to the owner's phone or computer to snoop into their location history. Google has a firewall to prevent that, but government agencies and professionals can disable it. It is assumed that Apple & Google are data mining for commercial purposes.

    • I don't know if it has anything to do with being "prestigious", I think people just really want technology.  People used to be amazed at technology, some are, some are running from it like they are living in the stone age.

      :-)

      • WE LIVE IN A PHENOMENAL TIME..... LoL...
  • Agreed :)
  • This technology has been arround for years and Apple, at one time, paid people to drive arround and discover wifi spots and then geocode them. Since each wifi has a unique signature they uses it to geo locate not gps enabled devices.  One applications for this technology is to cross reference wifi hot spots with a geo coded address so that when you connect with a non-gps enabled device they can use that location information in searches, as well as any other non good thing that they can think of. It's not really tracking you Yet!  But if you want to be anonymous go to your library and use a public computer.  that way they won't know who you are. In fact in the first version of the apply iphone this is how they figured out your location. Don't get too worked up over it.  Just send them love and light.  We can just meditatate to find out where they are, we don't need a fancy geocoded wifi to do it.
    • Interesting information Richard :)
  • Its to side of the Coin..lol

Technology is, of cource awesome, but it is also true that the more technology you have , the more Watched over yopu are...

Two side of the coin.. I have my 5 yo Sony Ericsson cell phone and Hp computer.

    • Tis true :)
  • I don't feel like they are doing it for any diabolical purpose, most likely there are multiple reasons, mining data for locations, sure for marketing, but maybe it's necessary for something.  I have an iPhone, just ordered the new iPad :)... The iPhone is the older version, honestly I'm still not that into cell phones, but I guess it's good to have them around, they have become almost as advanced as something out of Star Trek.

That's amazing, as far as I'm concerned, technology is evolving, just like we are.  And it's playing a role in our Evolution as well.

All that being said, yes Google is a powerful company, and Apple is pretty amazing with everything they have created.

Steve Jobs is a cool guy.
    • I agree, technology is evolving...

I don't have an iPhone, just an old Nokia, but for the wallpaper I use photos that I've taken with my mobile phone.  It's just so strange because whomever I'm thinking about at the moment, that photograph just pops up.  Really, really weird....

And agree too, Steve Jobs is cool : )
