The poor old Ego, such a misunderstood animal. Ego its seems is responsible for all the perils occurring on Planet Earth today. seldom eo you hear anyone have a good word to sat about. To the contrary, the negative connotations associated with the word would compel us to ask, why would a benevolent God equip us with such a creature?
To answer this question it is important to understand what ego is, and what it does.
The first clue can be found in the meaning of the word. In greek the word Ego literally means I. And in Greek the intonation is placed on the O instead of the E. This changes the dynamic of the word significantly. It goes from being almost apologetic in english to a powerful statement. It is a proclamation of I And so it is.Ego is that which makes you important, your self esteem. Your sense of I AM. It is also our primary survival mechanism.
When a baby is born, it is dependent on others for its survival. It cannot do anything on its own. So when it is hungry, it cries, when it is tired, it cries, when it needs poopies it cries. Ego is that which allows it to express its fears with conviction so that the world knows it need help. It is appropriate and correct. It is an expression of perfect self esteem. And no one questions a crying baby. Because that cry wields power, It is congruent.
What happens however is ego learns a number of default behaviours that get it what it wants. Ego is lazy like that. And so as you grow up your behaviours tend to become variations of a theme. That theme being the core behaviour that ego has learned. Trauma only further entrenches this behaviour,
The problem associate with this entrenching of behaviours is obvious. How often do we see grown ups, carrying on like baby's having a tantrum when they don't get what they want? And all of a sudden, there isn't the congruency there that allows the behaviour to appear acceptable. The reality of the mater is that he persons ego is stick in time. It still acts as if it wer 3 years old. Or 1 . And the person is painfully unaware of it being a problem Because they have been acting that way all their life. It is just the way I AM.
Hence the reason why people get touchy when you questioning their behaviours.You are essentialy questioned their survival mechanism. And unless the person is ready to commit spiritual suicide, don't be offended when they don't take your suggestions to heart.
If you feel compelled to bring someones egoic behaviour to their attention, be sure that you are adequately resolved in your own. Because if you aren't, you are part of the problem. Not part of the solution. In spite of your best intentions, you must accept responsibility for the inevitable ensuing confrontation. So be sure you talk to them in terms of behaviour. Not identity. "Are you aware that when you act in ... a way it impacts on me, and others like this? Just thought you should know". And then leave it. Let them ponder it. Give them the opportunity to discover their own solution. Because if you are feeling affected by their behaviour, you don't have their solution.
What would be really handy at this time is a means of giving ego permission to change its behaviours to something that is relevant to who they are now. Or better still, one that allows ego to be flexible and dynamic in the way that it responds to every situation. To turn it into an ally rather than an enemy.
The most effective way of doing this, in my opinion is to go inside and address your fear burdened memories. It is they that are keeping ego locked into a permanent defensive mode. Always looking for the danger. Always looking for a situation whereby it can justify its existence to you. Looking to please you in the only way it knows how. Never realizing that its behaviours are now compromising your life instead of enhancing it,. Or protecting it. And never able to understand why you treat it so cruelly when it is doing the job that you asked of it, all those years ago.
So love your ego. embrace it. acknowledge and appreciate the fact that it has worked tirelessly for you, keeping you safe from an enemy you never told it no longer existed, And in so doing gaining the power that is inherent in ego as a tool and friend that will facilitate you fulfilling all your dreams. In the way that God planned it.

Polish it to the sharp, gleaming, compassionate, perfection that it is.
Where all that is reflected is the magnificence of who you are.
Ego and the I AM presence aren't the same. The I AM is our true self, our true being, our true presence....it's that fundamental self awareness of being....it's the fundamental awareness God has, and we all have. At the end of it all, I am. I exist, I'm being, I am. And true personal growth is moving more into your I AM presence, and that's where true power lies anyways. When you can master your I AM presence, you can literally do or be anything. I'm learning that.
The ego, is like a false sense of self, a false identity, that lives in images...it's based on division...it's not the real self, it's a false self...a false sense of I am, which isn't really I am. It's like an alter ego, or a character, we take on, to survive and live in a duality universe. And we need it sure, you can't really be rid of it....not at our level at least. So we mays well try to work with it, and work to move into our true self, our true I AM presence....which is beyond any egoic identity, or status, or belief.

Well the Greeks were wrong. The true I AM presence, the soul self...and the egoic self, are very different. I know that, the more I move into my true I AM, which is the pure state of awareness of being....the less the ego is in the picture.
The ego is what happens when you're not really in balance...balance of masculine and feminine, of mind and heart...the ego is what happens when you're outward instead of inward focused...when you're not being authentic and honest...it's what happens when you're not really embodied in your true real self.
I know that, and...I understand we shouldn't fight the ego, that doesn't work...you shouldn't try to kill it, or it will just fight you...but I know there's a difference between an egoic self, and a real sense of self. Archangel Michael talks about this too, and it's true. But, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one Pete lol

There is no such thing as being out of balance. Only different states of perfect balance.
