Now many have troubles in understanding that Minkowsky was not saying that time axis is an orientation in some unfathomable space. Specifically, he was not endorsing eternalistic model of multiverse. His idea is understood by analogy. When we talk of speed of an object, we can talk of v=x/T, x=distance, T=proper time. So we talk for instance of a point particle passing along x at a rate compare to T. But also we can talk of t/T where t=coordinate time. (t/T=time dillation). So considering the symmetry between t/T and x/T. As compared to T, t is behaving just like x. We say a point in some clock is passing along t at a rate compared to T. So thanks to the common denominator, T, we can now talk of 'passage along time axis, t' in the same way we talk of passage along space axis, x. We measure the rate of both passages using a clock, T. Thats the relevant insight. We need no diagram even if we were 4 dimensional!!
