Frank Zappa`s funny song might be a symbol of what I mean - the appearance of nasty things we do not wish appearing.
I have observed a thing after many years observing. Things you do not love appear somehow in your way. All you do not love comes across your way according whatever resonance. And love comes only with a divine partner love likes to accompany: the ugly. Love is attracted by the ugly and nasty, because love is always reaching out to heal.
This makes it a little obvious why ugly things happen to good people. Of course there is no real answer to it, but one thing we can see. Things we do not love attract lots of energy to prevent, to suppress, to make not happen. Instead of letting happen, any strategy of prevention is fighting with it thus attracting into life. A better thing would be - letting happen as it wants to happen and to love it as it happens.
The second reason is love combined with not-love. This seems to be a deep essence of any love affair - love`s attraction of the dark and ugly, as if love is always looking for it to start healing. This seems the deep reason love appears only with the opposite mostly.
The intelligent one gets mad on how love works.
The stupid one relates love primarily to his dick.
The wise one becomes speechless nevertheless going on.
And the loving one finds enough love to love even the senseless...

I think its more a matter of perception. As it goes, when you smile the whole world smiles with you, but when you frown everyone will leave, and whoever stays, is probably a true friend. Love is like that too, its not love if it isn't there for the ugly as well as the pretty. The house built on quicksand is more appealing, but the durable and reliable are worth more in the long run.
There is light and darkness. Without each other, both cause one to go blind. The principles of the positive and negative are ever at work. If you never leave your house, you will never appreciate it. Thus we yearn for what we have more often when we have lost it. We do not become hungry unless we cease from eating. Humility is therefore a principle of accepting the negative.
We can be pretty demanding. We want only the good, only the clean, only the pleasant and acceptable. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Like a bunch of snobs they clean the outside, but inwardly they are vipers. Finally, the good is always taken for granted, as if no more then what is normal and demanded, but when something bad or ugly happens, those are the things we take notice of.
What then is paradise if not balance? What is heaven without hell? If there is no negativity, what is positive loses all meaning. It quickly becomes null and void. Light is always brighter when you've been in the darkness, without darkness one cannot see the stars shine from across the universe. Paradise is when the negative compliments the positive instead of competing with it, just as good woman compliments a man.
