To make it short:
How could we expect from higher developed E.T. cultures to rescue us from destroying ourselves or each other or even worse our whole planet if we were not ready to practice a comparable degree of benevolence to those lives almost every human on earth is able to save?
Would you be ready to donate money or even really risk something in order to save other sentinel beings (animals) in real danger or situation of great suffering, enslavement or misuse?
I hope so - in the name of your own soul's peace.

Treat others like you would like to be tread. (and this of course includes other life forms as well!)
