  If our collective consciousness shapes the world we live in, it would only make sense that the appearance of UFO's would also change in appearance with the advancement of our knowledge as a whole. In ancient times we called them angels. Now we call them aliens. At least, that's how I've always thought of it.

      As have I. We used to be visited by demons at night, then it was poltergeists/ghosts, now alien abductions :)
      
      I remember reading that after several incidents in which UFO's were reported to have crashed or exploded, sightings stopped for a while, then when they started again the UFO's were different shapes.
      
      Perhaps they were paid a visit by the Galactic Federations health & safety division. =))

  Or maybe those beeings are realy we from the future. So maybe we (the time travelers) changed our future a few times and now there exist different time lines and the time travelers are from the different variations of the futures so their ships look different?
