The Wow Signal

Wow! Every time I want to post about the wow signal, I find that someone else, just below has already typed a forum beginning with wow! It is still about the ETs contacting us. Seems that there is realy something wow wow about ETs contacting us.One day a scientist working in the SETI project circled some numbers and wrote wow! Had he spoted some intelligent signal comming from distant stars? The 'wow' signal, discovered in 1977 is regarded by mainstream science as the strongest evidence of an intelligent signal from space. Actually, astronomers are forced to choose between two options:a) There is something totaly mysterious out there, unknown to astrophysicistsb)The signal infact came from intelligent beings.The frequency of the radio wave is said to accurately mimmic the emission spectrum of hydrogen. Something hard to occur by pure chance. You can't say that it comes from the hydrogen is say stars cause hydrogen infact has several spectral lines and they naturaly come in mixture of all of them. As far as we understand pysics, only intelligent being can select one of the spectral lines and amplify it.One tantalising question is that if someone up there realy was trying to contact us, why did he do but just once in 1977? Anyone has a clue why the ETs did not keep beaming to the earth? Might they be having a faster than light signal that we can't detect and the ETs infact never detected a rebound signal from earth that indicates that there is intelligent life on earth?

    Mikail, indead close exermining life, we do see lots of 'wow' signals comming from it and we easily niglect them and pull our telescopes far when wonders are in our noses.

    Perharps a huge problem in mainstream science is its tendency to assume that human is the only intelligent being in the universe. Lots of things are inexplicable when we our assumtion is misguided.

    Malcolm, I think someone here, perharps you, should post a long article addressing issues raised on crop circles. Since some of us have never directly experience these things, a good article that presents both sides of the story is good. One should begine by stating how the skeptics are trying to 'dewow' crop circles and then show how the argument is bunk.
