I personally believe with the re-election of Barack Obama, America, weary of war and hate, wish to move in a direction of change or at least give the president an opportunity to continue to bring America back from the Bush years that left America with two wars and the Patriot Act, which took away many of American's inalienable rights and usurped the Constitution.
The Republican Party has found itself infiltrated by a mindset that according to the original Republican Party, does not represent the party. What Americans have seen in the last 12 years or so, is a party filled with individuals seeking to fearmonger, create wars, perpetuate racism and have a general atmosphere of greed and meanspiritedness. This has proven to be very divisive in purpose with the ignorant coming out in droves peddling their hate-filled views.
Donald Trump has insulted this president in a barrage of assaults from claiming Barack Obama is a Muslim, a non-citizen, responsible for whether Trump gives a charitable donation, and claiming that the president couldn't have been smart enough to attend Harvard, thus demanding the president show him his grades. Yet, never once demanding the same from George W. Bush, whose foolish behavior became a national joke. Trump's most recent act of division is to call upon the nation to "revolt." To have a revolution against the president's re-election. As a consequence, over 40 states filed to secede from the state of the Union. Nonsense of course. But Trump continues to fan the flames of hatred.
Fresh from the Obama victory, many in the nation simply want to unite as one people and bring this nation back to economic health and recuperate from the ravages of global warming that has brought tidal waves, hurricanes and earthquakes to our shores. They also want to do something about all this fearmongering/hatemongering which continues to be a blight on this nation. Over half a million people have signed a petition to ask Macy's to release Trump from a contract Macy's has with Trump to feature his clothingline, colognes and other wares. At this point, Macy's feels their profit margin is more important than their customers. In ignoring the petition, Macy's demonstrates their support for the Donald Trumps of the world making them in collusion with the so-called billionaire. The voice of the people is powerful but the people have not used it to their advantage. In order for positive things to happen, our nation's people must take positive action, and the non-violent action of signing a petition in high numbers to show Macy's and later NBC, that collectively the people have the power for good, is a stand for people power.
I post the petition here for those that feel the people can win through the power of the pen.http://signon.org/sign/urge-macys-to-dump-donald?source=s.em.mt&r_by=6073005
