The Medicine of Joy
What if laughter itself was medicine?
Not just a quick distraction, but a way to shift the whole energy of a moment.
Let us give you an example out of our daily life. We will never forget one of our first nights in the house we live in right now. The rain came down so loud on the roof above our bedroom that we thought, “Oh no, how are we ever going to rest here with all this noise?” For a moment, stress wanted to creep in. But then something else happened. One of us said, “It sounds like popcorn popping!” and we both burst out laughing.
From then on, every time it rains, we don’t hear noise, we hear a popcorn party. And we laugh. That little shift turned what could have been annoying into a source of joy.
This is the medicine we forget so easily.
Humor. Play. Not taking everything so seriously.
When we laugh, our nervous system resets. Our hearts open. The weight lifts. We remember that joy isn’t something we wait for after all the problems are solved. Joy is what solves so much, because it changes how we meet the moment.
With that being said, we invite you to laugh a little more.
Let something silly catch you off guard.
Laugh with a friend.
Sing off-key in the shower.
Play with your kids.
Say yes to whatever makes your soul light up.
Joy is sacred. It’s a frequency that heals, restores, and reminds us who we really are.
With love and laughter,
The We The Medicine Team
