The Age of Gurus is Over

Hi ACC Members!

What is your opinion about the Gurus? not teachers in general but I mean the Satgurus or people who call others up to follow them literally...

Why there is a wide spread opinion, that a person needs ONE guru to follow during a life period or even all life long? I have always been pretty allergic to that idea of ONE guru and still am... Even if I have decided not to follow any particular guru, this topic still is in my interest, because I met a highly intelligent person recently, who also has his ONE guru. The last fact was kinda surprising to me, because he seems a very independent soul actually, no "follower" type... He even claims that he recites ONLY mantras given by his guru ... (unfortunately I did not get a chance to ask him any further about that...)

So, I decided to post this to maybe get a wider perspective on that.

Guru means "teacher" among other things (like "from darkness to light" etc). Why on earth should one need only "one" teacher? OK, I admit, I have not read all the ancient scripts yet, that is maybe why I have missed something important ;))

I also know, the guru must only awaken the real guru in You and Me (in the disciple).

But still it seems that many gurus saying this still "do not mind at all", if disciples will start following all their words literally!

This is against my logic, because to me every guru who has walked this planet is incarnated as a human being and no guru can be always right in everything and no teachings can apply to all people in this world.

To me personally it seems that there is so much blind following. Even if the Guru is a very wise person, old soul and maybe even a higher dimensional being....still despite all this I would not recommend anyone to follow a guru 100%. Because he still is a being who is also learning. There are no beings here who have no lessons left to learn...and yes, they also have their egos.

So my message is... let us all be our gurus to each other and to ourselves :)

Krishna Kalki once gave me a quote which resonates with me a lot "The time of Gurus is over. Everyone is his own guru now". Like it! :)

Much love to all and I appreciate all opinions of yours, because I want to learn more about that controversal topic.

  • Dear Laura,

In 2007 I learned about a Guru who went to the other side in 2002. He was a disciple of Yoganandaji. His face was pure love and his teachings very wise. After knowing more about Paramahamsa Hariharananda I never felt the need to go or to look for another Guru. His love fills me and his teachings make me a better person.

    Love and laughter.

  • Love your post.  I have had an allergic reaction to those handing over their power to gurus or placing such folks on a pedestal.

    Much Love!

  • Thank you all wonderful people for so much wisdom!

    I <3 you all :o)

  • I spent 10 years as an esoteric studies junkie. Seminars, books, had my share of bona fide masters.

And then I realized something. Everything I was garnering information from was, at a fundamental level, telling the same story.

And so the next 10 years I dropped everything. And started to actually put the stuff I'd been taught into practice. I decided that I didn't want anyone else's expectations and/or limitations placed upon my experience. I wanted to discover my path, warts and all. And thats when everything  started to happen. When I came to the conclusion that the outside world did not provide the answers I needed. and turned my gaze within. That was when all the study came together and actually meant something. When I would have the experience and be able to relate it to something I'd read. Or been told. It gave me confidence to get stuck in and get my hands dirty because I could relate what was happening to someone else's experience.

    Love in a Quantum State

    Yes.

  • I believe Being Individual is Beautiful. Taking personal responsibility for everything in my life is a wonderful feeling. Letting my grown children find their own path is an act of freedom.

"The only way to grow is to accept all good, bad, the joyful, the sorrowful. Everything that happens to you, you are responsible for. That gives you great freedom.

"The moment I say there is no puppeteer, no God, no saint, no guru, it is all rubbish, I am trying to give you total freedom. I am making you absolutely responsible for everything that happens to you or does not happen.

Rejoice in this freedom. Rejoice in this great understanding that you are responsible for everything in your life. This will make you what I call the individual. And to become the individual is to know all that is worth knowing, is to experience all that is worth experiencing. To be an individual is to be liberated, is to be enlightened. Okay, ~Osho~

    • being non judgmental is the key.

      become an observer.

  • Thank you Lori... it was a trip reading it back myself, typos & all, as I wrote that after 3am. Nonetheless, I think the gist of what I was feeling and trying to say, is 'there'. It's such an interesting journey, this thing we call Life... & attemting to transcribe the roots of our Intent... of our experience. I resonate with what you wrote about Co-Creation, because I see it at the center point of the most profound Teachings of the Earth-School. I feel that when pondering Spiritual matters... or even something as seemingly radical as 'First-Contact'... the notion of Co-Creation should be kept central in one's Heart. We will not meet our Galactic Brethren & Sistren on bended knee... we shall meet them eye to eye. Not revering them as Creator-God's, but honoring them as extensions of ourselves... as Co-Creators. My experience tells me, that the ripple effect of Earths-Ascension will be felt throughout the Omniverse, and will have a deep impact on ALL Sentient-Beings. It's not about the Illusion of Timeline... or any of the dualistic shadows of our thinking. It's experiential... a Divine Process. Humanity has stood at this crossroads before... this time we're ready to step forward into the Glory of our Divine Heritage as fully 'Christed Galactic Citizens'... not backwards, toward the fading shadows of a paradigm that simply no longer serves. Just some multidimensional food for thought ;-)  ~InLight555

  • One in a million is a genuine Guru and only by good fortune you are able to meet with him/her... They rest are hocus pocus as they just quote the holy scriptures which you can read yourself.. Many now are posing as Gurus but instead of giving you enlightenment are more interested in how to lighten your pockets...some are just there so they can take top seat so as to control the masses and make innocent people worship them, bow down to them and give denotions to them.
During this Kali Yuga ending times many sects will form having false leaders or in other words Gurus who know that this is the time when people are most vunerable so are easy to put them under their spell.
All you need to do is follow three principles: 1 Do no harm to Mother Earth 2 Do no harm to any living entities 3 Lead a displined highly tuned spiritual life.
  • I do think that we are all Guru's in a sense, personally, I think that the people we come into contact with on a daily basis have great potential to "teach" us things similar to what a "Guru" would teach...

I think that the age of "followers" may be ending, but there are some people who do want to follow because they think it's easier than Leading, which isn't always the case.  We can ALL be leaders if we want to -- and if we choose to....

Some people's consciousness is in a very different place and other people's are... We live in a very diverse society -- so what one person can understand -- it may take 20 years for someone else to figure out - it really comes down to how much we accelerate our Evolution on a personal level...

We are Gods and Goddesses in this Universe -- and we have the capacity to be amazing in many ways that we sell ourselves short on!! :)
