learning curve

I have realised that if I dont put in the effort, I wont progress.  I have never had anyone to discuss ascension with, so have only had books to read.  I know I have to learn to meditate, but I find it hard, I know how I feel, but to sit and try to blank my mind is hard.  I can sit and play solitaire or spider solitaire and have no problem in clearing my mind.  I dont think about anything or worry.  But I dont think this is really what they mean by meditating.  If someone can come up with an easy way for dummies like me, I would be grateful.

    Staring at youtube meditations might provide, for someone who can't hold their attention, the same lulling distraction.

      Many traditions believe that meditation can be found in concentrating single-pointedly on any object, and I think that might include playing solitaire, if done in complete awareness... as well as any other activity. Many things can be meditation.
