There are only two types of tanks on the train. One of them seems to have no gun barrel at all, are they missile turrets instead? the other type the barrel looks in resting mode, or removed. Maybe these are destined for the scrap bin or target practice for artillery and tank and helicopter training?

I just read up on this a few minutes ago. It's possible that they are being moved to Ft Irwin for repainting etc. There has been quite a bit of military activity the past couple of weeks in that area. Mobilization to Syria maybe?
