A student in my reiki class today asked what it meant to honour thy mother and father meant...And I was stumped! I realised that I had always just taken this very literally and followed it as I thought I had to...ie show respect, be thankful that they had given me life etc.
I then started reading up on it and this concept goes as far to include 'revere and fear'
The question went even further - how can or does one honour thy father and mother when these beings have abandoned you as a child, abused and neglected you on every level...how is it possible to honour such persons?
Any thoughts anyone?

This verse actually means to honor thy "galactic" mother and father ,so our days would be long upon Earth! Hope that clears up things for you. The problem most of today's Bible believers, not to put them down, have is that they take what they are reading quite literally. You must bear in mind that the people, like babes to understanding things of spiritual a nature during those times, could only write and describe, to the best of their ability, what they were witnessing, chanelling and experiencing. It would be like you going back 2 or 300 years ago and trying to explain cell phones, computers and automobiles. Now that we have aquired the knowledge and technology to have and utilize these things, they are somewhat "natural" to us. When Ezekial spoke of seeing "chariots of fire" in the sky and him seeing a "wheel in the middle of a wheel" we, today, have come to know what he was trying to describe...SPACE CRAFT, and when those "same" people saw the Ascended Masters and/or other galactic brothers and sisters come down from the sky, they considered them Gods because they were able to "fly" and once they landed, they were able to do things, (miracles) that no earth beings could just spontaneously do. Jesus (Isa) was able to do those same things yet, he explained to those that witnessed his miracles to "Marvel not at this" and he also said to them, " the things I do, you will do greater things."
