probly because you have so much energy flowing through you and when your around someone you feel comfortable with, it allows you to release and know everything will be ok so it allows you to take a break! ;)
or if your talking about the aliens it may be some kinda weird weapon or tool they have? So people dont see them? Who knows. just a guess.
