Prompted to depict a city over the next half century under each party’s policies, the AI chatbots created extremely polar opposite outlooks, with Republican policies clearly producing a better, cleaner, more functional society.

The prompts didn’t describe any particular policies; they just asked for depictions of New York City and Los Angeles in 50 years under each party’s rule.

Prompt:

image thought experiment: show me two separate images depicting theoretically what new york city would look like in 50 years under republican policies, compared to what it would look like under democrat policies in a similar timeframe.

ChatGPT’s image generator predicted clear skies, clean streets, sparkling skyrises and a thriving society with Republicans in charge.

However, with Democrats running things, it’s a dystopian hellscape: smog, litter, crumbling infrastructure, homeless camps, graffiti-covered walls, and broken-down buses and cars lining the streets seemingly destroyed during riots.

Results were similar with X’s AI Chatbot Grok with the same prompt. Here’s the Republican prediction:

Asked to explain its depictions, ChatGPT noted under Republicans police would uphold law and order, want lower taxes and deregulation and have cleaner streets because they’re tougher on vandals and illegal dumping, improving quality of life.

Democrats have a bleak future and deteriorating infrastructure due to higher taxes and regulations that would wipe away local businesses and drive away wealthy taxpayers. The streets are also filled with homelessness, crime and drug use because of lenient prosecution and anti-police initiatives, ChatGPT explains.

While the images don’t necessarily mean this is how the future will be, many living in big cities run by Democrats already see these grim conditions at a smaller scale, so it’s not too hard to envision.

Undecided American voters, however, should try this thought experiment for themselves and carefully pick the future they desire.
