Angel coin

Today i went to the bank down the street to cash in my can of coins i have been collecting for the past few months. the teller poured the coins into the machine and then gave me the can back. i noticed the can still had one coin in there... it was a gold coin the size of a quarter with the image of an angel above the clouds on both sides. i do not recall ever seeing this before. has anyone ever heard of this type of coin?
