Hi everyone. I want to share my daily practice of controlled fasting that I have been practicing for nearly 3 months now. I would like tell you a little about me. Im 24 years old .I have been involved in fitness since I was 16. Im a certified personal trainer.  I practice daily spirituality along with my physical practice.  I also train martial arts on the side as a hobby-Im physically active through out the week.My only days off are weekends. I would never recommend an eating pattern that would do harm to anyone.Im here to help you guys .It has done wonders for me. It helped me stopping a very strong addiction.If you are holding on to  any addictions,then you are in the right place to help cleanse your body. I have discovered that adding daily controlled fasting along with daily spiritual work(yoga,meditation etc)does wonders and Im here to share my experience to those who care about their physical/mental health.

ANYONE can implement  their form of diet to what I'm about to tell you..It doesn't matter if you are physically active or not.  Yes,fasting. The ancients knew that fasting has great detox/healing effects on humans. This is why most religions today have fasting phases. However the form of fasting they do is dangerous and can do more harm than good.

 Its called intermittent fasting.  Its a 16 hour fast/8 feeding period(although they are different variations with longer fasting phase. You can choose which one fits your personal needs). DONT FREAK OUT! The fasting phase includes the time of your last meal+your sleep time+your time till next meal. Which is very easy to do. Lets say you ate your last meal at 8 pm. You go to bed at 10 pm . Wake up at 7 am. You will time your first meal at noon. Basically,you skip breakfast.. Your true fast is only about 4-5 hours depending on how early you wake up. Below I will discuss the amazing beneficial effects of these fasting hours.

YES! Skipping breakfast . You may have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Guess what? It isn't. It is nothing but another taboo.Eating breakfast will actually cause you to fatigue easier later on the day,get hungrier and slow your metabolism. When we sleep,our body releases hormones that are crucial for  the way we function physically and MENTALLY.  Human growth hormone is released during sleep. The levels remain high throughout the  early morning.Testosterone levels in men peak  very early in the morning  --8 am. These hormones play a huge role in cleansing/strengthening our bodies. When you have a early morning meal,the cleansing and strengthening effects lower drastically as the energy in your body works on digesting the meal you just ate. 

I will tell you my experience with this diet. I have tried EVERY form of diet. The 6 meals a day. The low carb. The veggie/fruit diet. 3 meals a day diet. High protein/high fat diet.Big breakfast diet.NONE OF IT WORKED  AS WELl AS CONTROLLED FASTING!

During my fasting phase I feel amazing,energized,more spiritually connected,more aware,more euphoric,more concentration,more motivation. I cannot tell you how beneficial this controlled fasting is. I have been doing it daily for 2 months and its a lifestyle now.I will eat this way for rest of my life.  My workouts have been getting better. I have become stronger. My metabolism has increased.I eat  as much as I want and burn it away. My taste buds have increased. The variety of food I eat has increased. I can go on and on..

Now you might ask. How are you not hungry in the morning? Or how do you not get hungry before noon. Its a condition we can easily break. Yes sometimes I have desire to eat in the morning when I wake up,but I control it.  With discipline the hunger goes away and the amazing benefits come in.What I usually control it with is plenty of water. I drink about two 16 ounce water. If i need more ill drink more. Then I brew some hot tea. I don't drink caffeine anymore as Ive noticed it does more harm than good-We can get  into that later. Then I take a cut a lemon and squeeze it in a warm jug of water. The vitamin C in lemon will help you with the detox and give you energy during your fast. If you prefer,you can squeeze some fresh orange juice(just one!).   I continue to drink plenty of water during my fasting phase.

Best part about this diet is you can eat much as you desire during your feeding phase.  They are no counted meals,no counted calories. I eat till Im full and im hungry the next two hours then I eat again if I want to. Sometimes I just dont eat the second meal and wait till I workout(yoga,biking,lifting weights etc) to burn more fat and become stronger. Then when I get home i have a huge feast. 

I don't want to get too much into what you can eat but im sure anyone here has a good idea of eating healthy.Focus on eating healthy food as it should be everyones goal here.-but you can afford to treat yourself now and then with anything as you wish on this diet and dont worry about getting fat!.  Eat healthy proteins. Stay away from fried food. Stay away from canned,processed foods. Stay away from bread much as possible. If you eat bread make sure its quality wheat. Stay away from soda and fruit juices(unless its organic from wholefoods ) Have vegetable and fruits daily. Make sure to get in your omega fatty acids from fish oil,nuts or seeds. Make sure to get your daily fiber from nuts,oatmeal or seeds. Flaxseed covers both omegas fatty acids and daily fiber. You can easily add it to your yogurt,salad or rice. Go through and scan everything.Ask any questions you have guys. This form of eating can work with anyones schedule.  It can work whether if you workout or not. Although I recommend that everyone should be doing some form of exercise! Whether if its walking,biking or yoga. You don't need to be in the gym lifting iron to be fit and healthy.

  • Fasting has no connection with Spirituality ...It is not going to make you a more spiritual person.

    The important first step to take when you want to walk on a spiritual path is to become vegetarian then advance from there like the Saints who can live on light and do not need any food at all.

    If you do not eat junk food you do not need to detox..JUST STOP EATING JUNK FOOD

    I will tell you a story ...the Hare Krishna's...Hindu's...and some Buddhist's believe in fasting but GURU NANAK the founder of Sikh Religion said...FASTING WILL BRING YOU VERY LITTLE SPIRITUAL MERIT AS IT MORE IMPORTANT TO HAVE A PURE HEART. 

    • Are you speaking from experience? I dont think you even tried it. So how can you make an such accusation that it doesn't improve your spirituality.Do you know how much of a role your hormones play in your well being? Did you try controlled fasting daily?

      How would you describe being "spiritual"?

      What is being spiritual? For me,its becoming a better person inside and out.. It made me a better person  so I would say I became more spiritual. Yes.

       What does spirit actually mean?

      The English word spirit comes from the Latin spiritus, meaning "breath", but also "spirit, soul, courage, vigor", ultimately from a Proto-Indo-European *(s)peis.

       

      If it makes me a better breathing person than I would label it spiritual.

    • My pleasure. The diet can be done in any way as long as you follow the 16/8 hour protocol..  If you clicked the link to learn more about it will tell you many variations on timing your meals in the feeding phase . Thats because this diet  was founded by a fitness enthusiast and he made sure it fits the routine of those who workout. However as I said it can be applied to anyone.  You can still lose weight by following this protocol and not working out. However if you do some form of physical exercise-whether if its walking/biking/yoga etc- It will speed up that process.

  • 1) It is totally up to you. Are you a vegan/vegetarian?  I have done a vegan diet for 5 months where i didnt eat any diary or animal products and I was constantly hungry  no matter what I ate.My body got really weak. It wasn't for me. Everyone is different. Don't forget that I.m an athlete  Although they are world class athletes that are vegan/vegetarians.

    2) Legumes and nuts have the most quality protein. Almonds,peanuts,black beans etc. The highest quality of protein from plants. However meat contains higher amounts of iron and protein.

    3) Gluten is what is made of bread,pasta,rice etc. Its made from barley,rye,dough,wheat,flour etc.Some people are sensitive to gluten. There is alot of controversy on it. If you are a healthy individual they are many forms of healthy wheat products to eat.

  • Note in his first paragraph that he is only sharing his experience with this, not a must do or else. I like to hear alternatives but not so naive to just do it without INFORMED information. So take a pill and calm down One.

    I was also led to believe that when you skip a meal sorta as is mentioned, that the body goes into survival mode and starts storing fat and then you actually could get fat so do the research before you shoot the messenger. Geez.
