When I was in the US I visited a high school. There was a door open in which a military person was waiting for students. When our eyes met, he came to me while I was introducing myself saying, I came from Eastern Germany.

Then he asked me, whether I served in the army. Only after I said yes, he would give me his hand, and laughing he mentioned, that we both were enemies back at this time...

Strange, I thought. I served in an enemy army, but he considered me as one who had served. This made me his partner being worth to shake his hand.

Anyway, while reading here at AC I often come to limits. I do not really understand some backrounds. For instance someone wrote this:

Since I do not consider myself having an IQ of a sandwich loaf, I am standing here like an ox in a chinese store. Of course I have no intent wanting to destroy anything, but I understand nothing.

This leaves me a little perplexed...
