We're not bombing IS to save american lives or to stop attacks on america, we're doing it to save people we don't even know so that the entire middle east civilian population will NOT have to move to europe or america in the near future. ;)
In the meantime we could go donate some money to Turkey. They just got about 200 thousand new citizens that will need houses, jobs, daycare centers and all else that is sort of nescessary to have to keep a civilized world civilized.
