The history is told in a symbolic format. Especially anciant history its the themes and the symbols that are most important and the facts are actually secondary
The meaning is "cloaked"-- told in such a way that the common grumblers cant appreciate the real inner significance.This creates a division so the people are ruled by their animal fears.
