Show Description:  Celebrating Crisis: Towards a Culture of Cooperation

Humans are not the first species to face enormous crises, as evolution biologist and futurist Elisabet Sahtouris explains. In fact, crises have always been a very important driver of evolution. Nature is profoundly conservative with what works well and goes into radically creative mode when things do not work.  Thus the crises we face can be celebrated for offering us the very opportunities we need to evolve from hostile competition to peaceful, mature cooperation, from a wildly exploitative consumer lifestyle to an ecologically balanced way of life,  from a  win/lose economy to a win/win economy, and so on to create a clean, green, fair and thriving future.  This conversation will show what we can learn from Nature's amazing living economies, from 100% recycling to free money, as we design and implement our own future!

Elisabet Sahtouris PhD (www.sahtouris.com ) is an internationally known
evolution biologist, futurist, author and speaker living in Spain. With a
post-doctoral degree at the American Museum of Natural History, she
taught at MIT and the University of Massachusetts, contributed to the
NOVA-Horizon TV series, is a fellow of the World Business Academy, and
a member of the World Wisdom Council. Author of EarthDance: Living Systems
in Evolution; A Walk Through Time: From Stardust to Us; and Biology
Revisioned with Willis Harman.
