I believe... that transformation is within, and Ascension will happen psychologically (physically someday as well perhaps) however ~ it's about being open and in the now, like you're saying.
I respect people's beliefs, but getting beyond religion is extremely Liberating, atleast it has been for me, and I know that it is for others as well... :)
Too often we (me included) get caught up in other people's demands... maybe some of that is inevitable, but if we can put our energy into a place that is healing to our inner selves it will make us stronger in the long run, and will help us change the world...
