Why am I here? They ask.

In response to your question:

I am well aware of the audience this website is intended for. When I first joined this website, I was like you and most everyone else on here. I was looking for answers. Well, I eventually found my answers. And some not very easily. And unlike people who end up in my position who eventually "grow out of" websites like this and leave forever, I stay because I feel what I can offer people on here is paramount to the mental health of certain members and readers alike. You have 99% of the people with their heads in the clouds; well I am part of that 1% reminding people to stay grounded. I am part of that 1% reminding people they don't need to wear that aluminum foil helmet (because they think aliens can read their thoughts I believe), but if they're choosing to wear it because it simply makes them feel good and positive and empowers them (and not for the previously mentioned insane-crazy reasons), then more power to them. Please note the helmet is a symbol as well as to be taken literally because I would most definitely tell someone they look ridiculous wearing it even if it was a self-empowering fashion statement--- good friends don't lie to their friends. If I care about you and you're doing something that makes you seem mentally unstable, I'm going to tell you! And my big heart extends further than my immediate social circle. It doesn't have to, but you know why it does? Because those people are sharing the same Earth as the future generation of children GOSH DARNIT! Everything other people do, has some degree of influence on other people and their kids. And if it's one thing this world needs, are better influences for the younger generations. Sure, there are a lot of parents and kids doing it right, but there are also a lot of parents and kids doing it wrong. And I'm not going to pussyfoot the issue for those who believe "there's no such thing as wrong" because that's bullshit and sane people know it. So many people are like, "oh, the aliens will fix us, the aliens will fix humanity, the aliens will fix the Earth" (or spirits, replace the word aliens with any other noun that's not yourself and you get the point) and that couldn't be further from the truth. It takes some people a lifetime to realize this... but it takes some people only a few decades or less to realize this and GOSH DARNIT if those people don't take initiative and do something about it. So if you have a problem with me, then you have a problem with positive, responsible, respectable change.

I assure you, that when we're both dead... if we exist in the afterlife, you're going to appreciate my contributions and what I've been trying to share here. It's just a shame that it takes death for you to understand and realize the bigger picture here. I promote sanity, independence, responsibility and respect.

To answer your question about why I spend my time and energy on this website:

Because there are too many crazy people in the world.. unhealthy crazy, not the cool/interesting/fun crazy... and if I can lend a hand (sometimes indirectly) to some of these crazy people back into not-crazy territory, I will.  If I have experience with something, I'm going to share my two cents. It's BECAUSE I have a different perspective that I bring balance. I bring level-headedness, common sense and reasoning.

If 1000 years from now, the future people look at these sites to try and figure out what the past people were like... if people like me didn't stick their neck on the line and share their perspective... the future people would probably think that everyone in the past were a bunch of looney nutcases.

It's like... imagine there's a thread started by an adult saying, "Santa Claus is real"... and every comment on that post are people agreeing with that person. And not in the philosophical way, but in the, "yes, a fat white man does in fact deliver presents around the world in 24 hours on flying reindeer through chimneys" kind of way. ---If you were to read that post... wouldn't part of you go, "I can't believe every single person believes that... and there is no one who disagrees... where are all the sane people at?" Now normally in situations like that... the people with a different opinion don't even bother with it... it's a lost cause to them.. because they realize that if those people believe in Santa Claus in such a way, they're too far gone in their mental health that no comment in the world would ever help them out of it. But then imagine that one of those believers had something happen to them in their life, or many things, and they changed their mind. Not on a whim, not a, "oh well, I'm going to change my mind because I feel like it, I randomly decided I don't agree with the Santa Claus people anymore"--not like that all. Because they lived that belief (remember, Santa is just an example here), they breathed that belief, they were that belief. And by living in this belief, they discovered a few things or a lot, that don't make sense. They don't add up. They went into deep thought about it, had deep discussions about it, came up with lots and lots of contradictions, and unanswered questions and just so many things that didn't add up or make sense about it. And in many senses, tested their faith. Because they had the brains to think for themselves and come up with "the right questions", because of their ability to look at it from a perspective different than most (*****it's one thing to believe in something and later not believe in it; it's another thing to not believe in something without understanding why people believed in it in the first place*****), they found themselves on the correct path of discovery.

And sometimes a belief system doesn't harm anyone so why bother trying to educate believers? Like the imaginary people in this example who believe in Santa. They believe in Santa. So what? Doesn't hurt anyone right? Well, at first. But then the belief system evolves as things do over time. People start hearing Santa in their head. People start hearing the reindeers and elves talking to them and interacting with them in their sleep/dreams. And they're starting to view others who are different than them as "the Grinch" (or name whatever would be contrasting to this Santa example). And now instead of worshipping life, the people are worshipping Santa. Waiting to see what Santa says before they attempt to make the next logical, responsible step on their own. Waiting to see if Santa tells them whether they should or should not make a life altering decision. And for some reason they're under the impression that Santa is recruiting them to jump down people's chimneys to deliver presents to children everywhere. And eventually as you can see, the evolution of the belief system takes a completely unhealthy turn and the ex-believer notices the unhealthy aspects... so much so that it disturbs them enough into trying to help other believers open their eyes to it.--- Now imagine for a moment, someone dying with their strong belief in Santa, let's call this believer Fred for this example. Fred dies. He meets up with his dead relatives... and eventually he asks, "So where is this Santa guy that I devoted my life to religiously?".... and his relatives get quiet. But they were preparing for this question (I imagine the possibility that dead people plan the arrival party of newly deceased family members/friends just like people plan gatherings for new births, I mean why not? That doesn't mean everyone gets them, only the ones who have family/friends already dead who are organized enough to plan such a thing. It's all speculation, don't take my word for it). And finally one of them gently tells him that there is no Santa, it was all in his head. Now, it depends on Fred's personality (assuming we still keep one after we die) on how he's going to take it. He might grieve over it. He might brush it off and go "oh well, such is life" and move on. He might not believe them and still feel that Santa exists, he's just one of those things that you'll never get to encounter, even in the afterlife. He might remember how some people died for their belief in Santa and wondered how they took the news. --- There's so many different scenarios that could play out. But this is an example of how I think. Welcome to my world. I imagine as many different possibilities as my brain can handle when it comes to certain things.

And oh yeah, back to the point... about Santa Claus and the ex believer. I am the ex believer. I used to be the believer, and then I learned better. Like I said before, and I'm going to say it again...it's one thing to believe in something and later not believe in it; it's another thing to not believe in something without understanding why people believed in it in the first place. So I can't tell you how irritating it is when people accuse me of not being knowledgeable about what I'm talking about. I don't dare talk about what I don't know about as if I know about it. But at the same time, I also understand how blinded people can be.. which is exactly why I don't simply go, "you're wrong" because that is totally unproductive... instead I go, "okay, well if that's what you think... then why is it that" for example.

Do you think I ENJOY people on this website telling me "you don't belong here" in varying words? Do you think I ENJOY being labeled and judged because my perspectives disagree with others? NO. It is human nature to want to fit in. But that ship has sailed a long time ago (maybe Ashtar was in it, lol, I  made a funny) and I'm okay with that because there are still people anchored to reality with a good attitude that pops up here and there who I encounter who make my time here worth it and recharges my faith in humanity. HUMANITY! Not some invisible people in some invisible land. But REAL PEOPLE, LIVING ON REAL LAND, LIVING IN REAL MORTAL BODIES, PUMPING REAL BLOOD. Real people with real expiration dates. Dead people are already dead. Why are people taking advice from dead people to begin with? They failed at staying alive, that's why they're dead!!!! DEAD! Sorry, went off topic.

But regardless of how unwelcome some of you make me feel, it is not enough to discourage me. Because in my heart, I feel like I am doing a great service to humanity. Even if it might be in vain. I mean logically speaking, "helping the insane become more sane" seems like a very exhausting endeavor. And don't everybody get all offended about that because some of you are only a little insane ;).

Despite my opposing views and ideas... don't get the picture twisted. Because I understand that being psychic isn't a real thing, I understand that you don't have very much to go on as far as knowing what type of person you're dealing with. Intuition and people-reading can only get you so far when reading words on a screen. I can tell and sense from several people on this website that I give off the air as being a disagreeable person and that couldn't be further from the truth. It just so happens that their experiences with me are limited to only the things I disagree with them on. For a lot of them, their memory doesn't seem to recall the moments when they actually agreed with me... because as it's well known, some people pay more attention to the negative things about life than the positive. But beyond that, everyone on this website has such a limited view of who I am because of the specific content I choose to contribute to... this isn't the place for meet and greet and "will you be my friend" (it is for some and there's nothing wrong with that!) but I'm the type where if I'm going to contribute on a site like this where the things people say have HUGE IMPACTS on people's lives (people die over religions ya know), I'd rather speak my piece and help you become more aware and intelligent for it even if it causes you to dislike me, than refrain from giving you my perspective and have you like me. ...So I'm going to help you out and tell you a little bit about me. (Another example that psychics aren't real, otherwise I wouldn't have to spend time sharing this to begin with :)~~~ and if you wish to comment on that statement, please check my profile and look for the psychic thread and share your opinions there).

I'm awesome. :) I only appear this bigheaded on paper. In real life I'm actually quite humble about it because in real life I don't have to say it, people see it for themselves. I'm also painfully aware of the "me generation" and strive to not fit into that stereotype. I tend to love animals more than people... some people act more like animals than human but that doesn't mean I like them. I like having crazy, wild nights out but I also like having quite, cozy nights in. I am one of the most aware and observant people I know, and that saddens me to a degree but not enough to halt my life because I understand why ignorance is bliss regarding certain things. I wish recycling was a universal law and fined like littering. I wish people stopped intentionally hurting and traumatizing other people. I wish everyone practiced universal respect. I run from bees and I've never been stung, and even though I look silly running away, it's served me well. I hope we do NOT get instant access to all knowledge and "understand all things" in the afterlife because there's a certain joy for working for what you get... and if I could just think about anything and in that instant become an expert on it... that sounds so incredibly boring.

Human beings are an intelligent species. It's only natural that they have thoughts and wonder about what happens after death. I think even if there was no existence after death, human beings would still create the illusion of that belief while alive because well... it seems that's just what we do.

Many Blessings To You and Yours.

*shakes head and pulls covers over my head*

  • Wow, how am I number three and only two people spoke in this thread besides me? Astounding. Thank you for reading my message everybody.

  • "Why are people taking advice from dead people to begin with? They failed at staying alive, that's why they're dead!!!!"

Yeah, I liked it too. :)

    • :P Well since you insist.

I don't believe that. I used to believe that. But then I thought about suicides and accidents. I firmly believe accidents do happen. And I firmly believe people are fully capable of deciding it's time to take their own life and have it be something that wasn't "planned from the other side".

If I put my head into a fully functioning guillotine and tried to use it... if it didn't work no matter how many attempts I made... but it works when I put a watermelon or whatever in it each time... then sure, maybe I would say that death is always planned. But that's not an experiment I'm willing to subject myself to. But beyond that, I feel anyone can decide to end their life anytime. Sure, some people fail at their attempts and end up with scars and other deformities... but I don't believe that's because it was planned... it's just a consequence to their actions at not calculating correctly.

Now technically, you could say suicides are planned... I mean they have to be to some degree... but that planning occurs in life, not in some other dimension.

And then there's those people who die by asphyxiation (tightening a belt around their neck while "self completing)... I HIGHLY doubt they intended on killing themselves. That is one of the most embarrassing ways to go, don't you think? Check out the Darwin awards and see how many embarrassing ways people have offed themselves by accident.

      • Okay, that's sort of funny because the majority of perspectives on here don't have "real evidence". They're perspectives, just like opinions, everybody's got one.

And the different between me and most other people who share their views... I actually have some content to back it up. I don't go... "this is the way it is because I say so". Instead I go, "how is it possible for things to be like this, when there are so many things to the contrary?" I insist that people feel free to prove me wrong.

Just like I did with the above example regarding death. I didn't just say, "I don't believe that"... I said, "I don't believe that because...." and posed some very good questions about the topic, unlike what some people refrain from doing. And you cleverly ignore these things by distracting from it with your attempts to devalue my perspective and questions.

So you really think that people who die by asphyxiation in the example above, plan this death?

        • Say what? Now you're just nitpicking. Something like my 99% remark is an opinion. Did you know 76% of statistics are made up? And that 99% remark is specifically referring to this website. Not how I view others in the world. Asking someone to prove their opinion is typically what somebody does when their resources are tapped out. A wiser approach would be to provide a counter argument if healthy conversation is what you're looking for and it shows that you are actually invested and knowledgeable in the conversation and not just looking to argue with someone.

I know you originally ignored my example on death and you're completely entitled to do so... but that doesn't mean that an opinion won't be made about why you choose to do so.

          • Yeah it's an old joke. That 76% of all statistics are made up. It's one of those things like...

            the following statement is true

            the preceding statement is false

  • Thank you. With at least three people here trying to give me certain labels about my motives on this site because I disagree with them, I felt it finally time to say something about it in one specific place so I can stop repeating myself. And instead just refer them here should it happen again in the future.

I am very familiar with the treatment of the "realists" but I am so thankful for their presence. I had a conversation with someone several months ago where I shared with him how some days after looking at this website, I just want to cry at how delusional and out of their minds some people are (scary crazy, not interesting crazy). It's really saddening. But then I realized that this website only has a few thousand people (well, a few hundred people if you count only those that are active) and that it's a tiny, tiny, tiny amount of people compared to the population of Earth. And it's actually a blessing that particular people gather together here in one place because it makes it so that they're easier to identify when you encounter people like them in real life. I don't mean this for everyone on this forum, there's actually more sane people than not.. if anything there's more misguided people and people seeking answers than there are the amount of people I'm concerned about. In the end I realize it's their life to live, not mine... but again, like I said... they're sharing the same world as future generations... I'm not just gonna let crazy people loose on the streets without trying to give them food for thought.

The more I spoke my mind, the more these "realists" introduced themselves to me slowly but surely and I cannot express how grateful I am for that.

And you're totally right about the reason for why they're not very popular (well, on this site that is). The sad part is, is that the people who need to hear what these "realists" have to say, are the ones who go on instant self-protect shield-myself-from-it mode instead of taking a step back and looking at it objectively. I can't tell you how often I see people create a bubble for themselves instead of engaging in healthy conversation.
