The Prof has no experience of time travel and is simply making a supposition based on his peripheral understanding of the process...
It is possible to go "backwards" and "forwards" in time, the only limitation being meeting yourself from the future, which cannot happen......I know, as I've done it, personally.....

I do, yet, I have to perform this everytime I want to time travel:

Anyway, one of the main problems with time travel are paradoxes, and that may be the reason that there aren't any public time travelers from the future ( or past?),

Now the article is sort of implying (between the lines) that if one is able to break the standard relativity rules of Earth one CAN POTENTIALLY travel back to the past (makes sense) but chances are they wont make it back unless they readjust their module.
Anything is possible with an open mind... plus wormholes are really huge potentials...scientists are still researching into it. ... Have I been to the future ? ...ALL the TIME! lol ;)<3
