There are two basic pleasures satisfying humans - joy and pain.
While joy is connected to hope, laughing and healing, pain has a flow of similar forces, but destructive at one hand.
And there are always two basic sides in joy and pain - causal agent and receiving subject.
In both cases, a causal agent of joy as well as of pain can have a feeling of deep pleasure. The difference is the modus of operation. Joyous pleasure operates with deliberate and wanted connectness between causal agent and receiving subject thus building up a mutual connection. Pleasures of pain, on the contrary, operate with delibarate and wanted separateness except one common meeting point, which indeed has two faces - one face has the pleasure of creating pain (casual agent), while the other face (receiver) feels the pain as threat and apart of being in balance and equilibrium. At the meeting point causal agent and receiver exchange energies and life forces (Henri Bergson once called it elan vital, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89lan_vital).
In other words - while the pleasure of joy always has to do with overcoming separateness exceeding into connectness, the pleasure of pain needs to stay apart from connectness by angst and fear.
Nonetheless, there is no exact line between joy and pain. There are cases, in which both appear mixed up to a certain degree. For reasons of excitement and overcoming boredom, subjects also tend to delibarately want to experience more or little pain degrees even while losing joy. Thus they declare a presence of pain - to a certain degree - a source of deeper joy, which would not appear by pure joy alone. Most of those gray areas are lived in sexual regards and psychopathic games. The subject is convinced, there is never pure joy nor pure pain. He puts the analogy of not having pure black and white in life to joy and pain thus giving him tools of meaning. But where are the limits? Are there limits in general?

Playing with limits thus can lead to deep desparation and being permanently out of mental and whatever balance and equilibrium. A deep reason is the anatomy of angst and fear. In modern times angst is separated from fear. Angst is more nondirectional, while fear is reacting to a concrete threat (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angst).
Again - joy is always pointing to connectness, while pain is connected to separateness. A joy of joy appears in case a casual agent and a receivin subject live in that flow of mutual connectness. Then joy is a natural result. In case the casual agent feels a joy of bringing pain to the receiver while this one feels threatened, angst and pain reveal their true faces: they are in fact agents of destruction and slavery. The joy of pain is simply sick and out of balance and equilibrium. Same with limitless playing with pain as source of joy (like masochistic people claim) - once it is out of balance and equilibrium, it becomes destructive ans sick.
The top of the maliciousness of angst and fear it their intention to separate a subject from being connected to others. Angst and fear tell subjects, there is no connection, but only separateness and loneliness, and pain is the normal status of such modus. And in separating each and every subject thus making him lonely and senseless, angst and fear create the essence of slavery. A slave is a lonely subject with no intention and hope of connectness with others. A slave deserves pain, for it is the status of loneliness. Pain is both, the trap and the way to it. Pain is the basic force of destruction and thus the basic force of deceit and thus the basic demonic force. And angst and pain are their real agents in cases they push and exceed limits.
For it is also true, that angst and pain are also protecting life and life balances. That`s why I never climb the Mount Everest and will not go deeper into for instance Aleister Crowley`s terrible teachings and rituals. But everybody has to see that for himself in his abilities and interests.
From there John 14:6 (Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life...") for instance becomes an important meaning. It tells from the agents of joy leading to connectness. It is not only a constitution, but also a way. By way of joy connectness is accomplished. Pain and their agents angst and fear are also not only constitutions, but also ways. By way of it slavery is accomplished.
It is not necessary to fight with demonic forces and to fight slavery modes, for it is impossible. It makes no sense. Possible instead is understanding the anatomy of it. By looking to it pain, angst and fear become less and lesser an option.
