METRO NEWS BRIEFS: CONNECTICUT; Judge Rules That Police Can Bar High I.Q. Scores

Published: September 09, 1999

A Federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a man who was barred from the New London police force because he scored too high on an intelligence test.

In a ruling made public on Tuesday, Judge Peter C. Dorsey of the United States District Court in New Haven agreed that the plaintiff, Robert Jordan, was denied an opportunity to interview for a police job because of his high test scores. But he said that that did not mean Mr. Jordan was a victim of discrimination.

Judge Dorsey ruled that Mr. Jordan was not denied equal protection because the city of New London applied the same standard to everyone: anyone who scored too high was rejected.

Mr. Jordan, 48, who has a bachelor's degree in literature and is an officer with the State Department of Corrections, said he was considering an appeal. ''I was eliminated on the basis of my intellectual makeup,'' he said. ''It's the same as discrimination on the basis of gender or religion or race.''

  • Lol!  Kinda shines a Light on all the dumb cops I've seen in my day!  :P  I've witnessed complete abuse of power (including murder) and complete ignorance from local police, since I've been alive.  Dumb = easily manipulated/brainwashed.

  • Well there is one word that suits them...Bastards..what they do not know is that truth and rightenoss wins in the end and the evil doers suffer in hell.
    • Hopefully in our lifetime. I was into some of the same things these bastards were into a long time ago, and when asked about karmic backlash, the response is "you come back to this planet and do it all over again, regardless of what you do in this lifetime. So what."

  • Malcolm:  Heard on Alex Jones that they don't want cops with an I.Q. over 100.

  • I have to agree with Feather...................this is been happening for decades. My parents have a lot of police friends and for the most part they are not that intelligent, rather well programmed................but the system needs robots that will never question anything but follow the orders...

    • You are again technically correct Assiya. However, notice that I bring up the White Plains cop who recently labeled breast feeding as a terrorist mechanism for distraction and recent reports of Obama requesting personnel with low IQs (per anonymous whistle blowers). We are starting to see the fallout of requests for workers who are nearly retarded and lack critical thinking abilities: it is starting to hurt our social fabric.

      • welcome to zombyfied America , Malcolm.............................

  • Yeah, but it may explain why university graduates of today (who can't find work in the U.S.) are now being barred from the police force while new veteran arrivals from Afghanistan (who joined the military out of high school due to no jobs in the U.S.) are now getting preferential treatment for hiring at police departments AND at the T.S.A. (who are the U.S. government hired personnel  at the airports who like to stick their hands down 10-year olds' pants and remove colostomy bags from the elderly for fear of "terrorism"). Also note that our White Plains, New York police officer (who said that terrorists used breast feeding as a distraction tool at Sri Lanka) was also reportedly a veteran with a low IQ.

  • This may explain why Obama's people are making so many stupid mistakes (like the new IRS officials trying to audit honest people due to their obvious disagreement with Obama's policies), and also why new police officers are making stupid decisions (like labeling breast feeding as a tactic used by terrorists in New York, since it was used in Sri Lanka once).
