Interesting notes about Leonard Nimoy: in addition to involvement with acting, directing, poetry, and photography, Nimoy was a well-liked Hollywood socialite in the 1960's who was invited to many social gatherings in Hollywood (and he reportedly was also a favorite toke-buddy of Jimi Hendrix, while Hendrix lived in Los Angles in the late 1960's).  He was also a scientific inspiration to a lot of people who grew up watching Star Trek, and I honestly believed he may have encouraged a lot of young people growing up in the 1960's (myself included) to become involved in science, especially biological-based and computer-oriented science.

You stepped
Deep into
  The waters
   Of my soul

Patiently you searched
For the precious
     Stone

You found it
Warmed it
  Caressed it
And gave it
  To me
Unselfishly
  As a gift

And now
  It is ours
    And we call it
        Love

A silence with you

A silence with you

Is not
a silence

But a moment rich
with peace

Because

Because

I have known despair
I value hope

Because
I have tasted frustration
I value fulfillment

Because
I have been lonely
I value love

You Fill Me With Your Love

You fill me

With your love
You fill me

With your caring
You fill me
With your thoughts

You fill me
With your sharing

Thank You For a World of Kindness

Thank you

For a world
Of kindness

Thank you
For your
Endless patience

Thank you
For your
Sensitive understanding

Thank you
For Your
Love

Pictures of You

– Leonard Nimoy

You’re surrounded by pictures of you.
Here you are so young and handsome
Here you are with a wife or two
Here you are, so happy and then some
Surrounded by pictures of you.

Your walls are covered
No more space
Too bad, you’re such a pretty face
And so adored
Do you ever get bored
Looking at pictures of you ?

You’re hit with a spotlight from above
Your fans are screaming words of love
You’re always so busy
Don’t you get  dizzy
Looking at pictures of you ?

  • Nimoy was my favorite also, but when I was a kid I didn't talk about this (all the school boys in my childhood time worshiped Captain Kirk, and Spock and McCoy (and the others) were viewed as "useless idiots").  I really enjoyed his "In Search of.." television series.

    • Hi Malcolm,

I can't keep a straight face if I watch Star Trek now, but as a young boy growing up in London, enjoyed those 1960s endless repeats, of the original series...

I liked Spock more than Kirk, as a character, although I do recall, as you suggest, many fellow schoolboys preferring Kirk, as he was more a man of action....Kids and especially boys, like that type of thing in adults....Nobody liked Dr McCoy, who was considered too emotional and weak.

Captain Kirk played by William Shatner, was actually a very good Canadian actor, who brought much gravitas and physical macho to his role and he did many of his own stunts, including that infamous stunt in "Arena" in which he blew up the reptoid, using gunpowder...(you know, charcoal, saltpeter and sulphur, which just happened to be lying around on the planet surface.) LOL

But when that special effect made it's big bang on screen, the actor suffered severe bouts of tinitus for years of his life, following it...the severe ringing in the ears.

      This is the scene:

      • OH, DOES THIS BRING BACK MEMORIES!!!!!!! Thanks, Drekx!!! "No, I won't kill you."
