Lightning struch a Texas radio station tower (and knocked it off the air for a few days) after this station organized a mass burning of Beatles records after Lennon claimed "the Beatles were more popular than Jesus."
Does this mean that God prefers the Beatles message over the message of Jesus, or was this simply a freak accident of nature??

The day after it organised a public burning of The Beatles' music and memorabilia, radio station KLUE of Longview, Texas was struck by lightning.
The lightning bolt hit the station's transmission tower, destroying broadcast equipment and knocking unconscious the news director. KLUE remained off-air for some time afterwards.

I'm pretty sure the weather satellites and synoptic charts would've shown incoming adverse weather conditions and because lightning is a huge bolt of electricity it acts as all electricity does: Taking the shortest possible route to ground(earth) Seeing as the statue stands 2000 feet above Rio it's 2000 feet less traveling distance.
