Try out any thing you'd like during a meditation...Like rock music, listen to something slow or it can fast...If its stairway too heaven, then ignore those backtrack messages(if they are true, I'm not going to bother with this if its true or not). I'm pretty sure you can do it with many forms of music not to sure bout death metal though.

I don't think I could function properly without music. It is my heart and soul, and has been the one constant in my life since I can remember. I like every kind of music, I mean literally. Except for maybe hardcore death metal, I listen to every kind of music there is, from pop to hip hop, rock to metal, new age to kirtan to african tribal music, latino music, classical music, old Russian music from the 30s...just everything. I love anything with a rhythm. I also like tonal music, which is more universal.
The thing about music is, music is of the heart. It's not mind....you can't be a good musician if you're too of the mind. All great music always comes from the heart and soul, and pure emotion. And I'm a pretty good singer and dancer myself, and I know from experience, you can't think music....music is all about feeling. And you can tell right away when someone is thinking instead of feeling when they're performing.
It's like the old white style of dancing, with the waltz or the foxtrot, which was pure mind....with the 1 step, 2 step, 3 step, turn and all of that stuff. It's very mechanical and rather boring to be honest. And then, there is the old style of dancing that black people had, with the lindy hop or the jitterbug, which was pure rhythm, pure heart and feeling...it was so free and loose, not anything like the dancing in white ballrooms lol That's the difference between mind and heart when it comes to dancing at least, and it's a huge difference. Music is supposed to be of the heart, not the mind.
although i do not like the "white" sucks "black" is better part of the comment i do have to agree, music is not only part of your mind because ancient homonids before us on earth started music BEFORE words, rhythem is part of nature, song is part of nature. it is not befuddled with meanings of this or that word, it just IS, although music does take mind and heart, it can be very complicated methmatically and the more intricate movments of music require memory.i ahve been a musician for 22 years, and can vouch that the more you try to do it better the worse it will sound and come out. you have to let it flow, i play better with my eyes closed.
Exactly...exactly, you have to let it flow. And this is something only artists would understand lol It's like Michael Jackson said...you have to get out of the way of the music, most artists tend to get in the way of the music. He also said, don't try to write the song....let the song write itself. You just got to let it flow, that's the perfect way to describe it...you just got to allow it to flow. And again, only an artist would understand that, so I applaud you for understanding that.
And I think white ballroom dances from the 40s, 50s and 60s...were rather boring lol That's why many white people would flock to the black dance halls in the ghettos, like in Harlem, to get some of that "negro soul" because the music there was soul. And I've been to Harlem, the people there are very spirited. Mexico too, very spirited people. It seems most ghetto folks are very spirited, and basically all music from jazz to rock to hip hop, has originated in the ghettos, because ghetto people have soul. That's probably why I have soul, because I grew up in the ghetto lol
funny how when one agrees with you you are all nice as pie and when one sees it different its an attack .
Well I can tell when it's done in the spirit of simply disagreeing, and when it's done in the spirit of attacking, and for you, most times with me, it's in the spirit of attacking. And that's not just with me, that's with most people I see you interact with here. Because you think you're always right, and you feel the need to contradict basically everything anyone says.
So yes, in that case, it moves into the realm of attacking, because it's not done with pure intentions, it doesn't come from a level of soul, but a level of ego. It comes from a spirit of polarity, where you always try to find differences...not from a spirit of unity, where you try to find common ground.
And for me, I'm trying to find common ground, and if we have some common ground with this, there's no reason to make it into a dualistic situation. But you're very good at that, and you continue to right now, and again....if you're going to be like that, you mays well just not say anything.
