Superbowl could be coldest in more than 50 years, says meteorologist

“Superbowl could be coldest in history” might have been a better headline.

This year’s Superbowl is scheduled to be held – outdoors – on February 2, at Chris Christie’s ”I Shouldn’t Have Listened To Al Gore” Stadium, says Steven Goddard website. (Officially, it’s the MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey.)

According to meteorologist Joe Bastardi, the time frame from Jan 22 to Feb 5 could be one of coldest periods in the last 50 years, if not longer.

Bastardi, formerly the chief long-range forecaster at Accuweather, is now chief forecaster at weatherbell.com.

Everyone agreed that temperatures had plummeted since 1940, and no one doubted that the tree ring data accurately reflected the decline in temperature.

So Hansen and Mann had a huge problem. They had to create a spike in temperatures, get rid of the tree-ring data, get rid of the Medieval Warm Period, get rid of the 1930s, get rid of the 1970s ice age scare, and get rid of the Little Ice Age.

Warming the 1970s didn’t make much sense, so they instead chose to cool the 1930s. Step one was for Hansen to whack a few tenths of a degree off the pre-1950 temperatures.

Hansen getting rid of the 1910-1940 warm period gave Mann cover to claim that something was wrong with Briffa’s trees – and throw them out. This opened the door for the creation of hockey stick.

Once the flood gates opened, they went nuts – erasing the MWP and LIA, erasing the 1930s and jacking up recent temperatures. All over the world, the past got cooler and the present got warmer.

Over the past decade, Hansen has made massive alterations to the historical US temperature record.

And now we have this completely manufactured temperature trend. The spike that we see is indeed Mann-made, and Hansen-made.

There was never anything wrong with Briffa’s trees. Mike’s Nature Trick was much worse than it seems. The red below shows the trees that were removed. They were very similar to the uncorrupted temperature graphs, and there was never a valid reason to doubt their accuracy.

Have The Koch Brothers Changed Their Mind About Climate Change?

Oh, the irony, liberal news sites proclaimed.

A University of California-Berkeley study on earth surface temperatures, financed in large part by Libertarian petrochemical billionaire Charles Koch's foundation, has found that global warming is indeed happening and that the emissions of greenhouse gases are truly caused by humans.

Charles and his brother, David, have for years backed groups that produce studies denying the existence of climate change. And Greenpeace and other environmental groups have long accused them of having a "vested interest" in doing so.

But some believe the Berkeley study shows the oil tycoons have turned a corner.

University of California-Berkeley Physics professor Richard A. Muller, who led the new study, told Whispers that he believes the Koch brothers really do "want to get the science clarified."

"People think they can look into the minds of Charles and David Koch," says Muller, who himself was previously a climate change denier. "But I have had conversations with them, where they are interested in the science and the proof, so that these issues [on climate change] would be resolved."

The Koch brothers, who founded the conservative non-profit group Americans for Prosperity, previously supported the campaign of Herman Cain, who declared he didn't believe climate change was real.

Earlier this month, however, David Koch held a campaign event for GOP candidate Mitt Romney, who has said he does believes climate change "is occurring."

Elizabeth Muller, executive director of the Berkeley Earth Project, tells Whispers she too believes the Koch brothers are genuinely interested in the science.

Muller points out that the Arlington, Va.-based foundation's $150,000 grant for the study was "unrestricted," and that the study's stated purpose was to "increase the transparency" of climate change studies.

The proof will be in the pudding, however, if and when the Koch Foundation decides to support the second phase of the Berkeley study, which will focus on ocean surface temperatures, but will also continue to explore mankind's role in climate change.

Though two foundations have already renewed their funding for the second phase, says Muller, the Koch Foundation is not among them.

Koch Foundation spokesperson Tonya Mullins would not reveal to Whispers whether funding would be renewed, but she called the research the foundation has supported both "independent" and "sound."

If you see my article above about the Koch Brother's financing of UC Berkeley, they now AGREE with "climate change."

Does this now make them the "good guys," or are they just evil opportunists looking to influence legislators via PAC money given to employees (AND their elected officials) on state government payrolls?

I'm all for new energy sources, but how does carbon dioxide make the "climate change" into an Earth much colder? I thought Kenneth Lay and George H.W. Bush'e Kyoto Accord claimed it was the other way around.
