Love Yourself

Lotus Flower by WillI've decided to start writing brief daily messages about a wide range of spiritual topics. Parts of them may come from earlier writings of mine, discussions I've had, or writings from other people. I'd also like to include art and links to a wide variety of other things, like current events and videos as well. Discussion is highly encouraged, though I plan on posting these to a wide variety of forums so I might not be able to respond to each one personally.Love Yourself10/31/09Love begins within. How can you truly Love another if you don't Love yourself? Where does Love come from if not from within and how can you give Love to another if you haven't found it within yourself? It's impossible, if you don't have Love within yourself, you only have the illusion of loving something you see “outside” of yourself. That's not Love at all, that's desire, attachment. If you don't Love yourself, what do you Love? “I love football”, “I love this TV show”. It's quite rare these things are real Love.If you view yourself as unlovable, that's the place your coming from in every one of your relationships. You must come from the self, everything you do comes from the self. If you don't see the self as someone deserving Love, your actions are going to express this. If you don't Love yourself, you must be judging yourself as being bad (many people carry this over from religious upbringings “born into sin”). If you see yourself as a “bad” person, you're going to act that way.Now, most people who are “spiritual” nowadays see the importance of Loving themselves. They have begun to Love themselves, but here's the big question to ask. Do I Love Myself Unconditionally? Or is there some hesitation there? Do you Love yourself freely and completely or are there some parts of self you still don't Love so much? True Love is Freedom.
