I was expecting Jesus to convince his disciples after resurrection that he was a spirit being but he seems to to exactly the opposite!"Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." Luke 24:39This was after performing two acrobatics.1)"Then their eyes were opened and they recognised him, and he disappeared from their sight". Luke 24:312)Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, peace be with you!"Contrary to how many beleive, the bible reveal ancient Jews as though they didn't beleive in soul as a real entity that exists independent of the body.Indead in must be so because various parts of the bible do talk of RESSURECTION. This includes that of Jesus. It would make no sence to revive corpses if the souls were already leaving in some other realms. It must be true that the Jews beleived in RESSURECTION of the body as the hope for afterlife. It is said that it was socrates who introduced the idea of an immortal soul in Jewish beleif system. Indead when we read some parts of the old testament, it seems that Jews in OT didn't even beleive in afterlife at all!"So a man lies down and does not rise; till the heavens are no more, men will not awake or be roused from their sleep. If only you would hid me in the grave and conceal me till your anger has passed! If only you would set me a time and then remember me. If a man dies, will he leave againe? All the days of my hard service I will waite for my renewal to come. You will and I will answere you; you will long for the creature your hands have made" Job 14: 12-15It seems that Job beleived that whether or not there is afterlife depends entirely on God-man has no GUARANTEE of an afterlife inherent within himself. But here, he says;"Turn away from me so I can have a moment's joy before I go to the place of no return, to the land of gloom and deepest night, of deep shadow and disorder, where even the light is like darkness" Job 10:21-22Though Job perceived himself as a righteous man who diserves anything good from God, he seemed to have little hope in an afterlife. But he was not alone in the OT."Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaites them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath, man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust and go to dust. Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of animal goes down into the earth?" Ecclesiastes 3:19-21Some Christians donnot beleive in the immortality of the soul. Jehovah's witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists don't. Indead, they often quote the above verses as their support. Jehovah's witness notion of afterlife is quite simple. Their paradise is not something that can go over anyone's head. It is just the cleaner version of this very earth with our bodies TRANSFORMED to a superbody like that of Jesus after ressurection. It is the immortality of the body. Indead, Elen G White, the auther of SDA church did explained much of her hopes in how afterlife will be ushered in. It sounds like a transformation of the entire universe into an heaven. It will not happen in a near future. We won't go up to God. God will come down to us.But is a body or matter in general realy cabable of being transformed to create a perfect, immortal body and a perfect dwelling place? Yes! With the advent of quantum mechanics, we have come to know that matter is endowed with all the properties that we used to think that spirits have. Infact it has even others that ancient men never imagined! It can pass through walls and pervade everywhere (omnipresence) It can pull another object from remort and several of them can entangle and behave as though a single thing! It seems to know, it even knows when observed! It can come out of void and disapear. Then it is said to be 99.9999% empty, meaning that the case of Jesus desappearing into nowhere and crossing the wall after resurrection is plausible. Infact, I have explained exactly how these can happen in several articles.

  • The question is: ‘what do we really know of reality?” - perhaps that “Jesus crossed the wall with the body” – was a cue showing people that this world is an illusion and that if we stop recognizing the solidity and validity of this reality as ‘the only reality’ - "we may put our body right through the wall or even walk on the water" ... ;)
