  second that Si and Feather.................they are deprived of necessary nutrients, minerals /vitamins and life saving and vitality rebuilding enzymes that dead food does not have.

  Chapter 7 of the Nirvana Sutra (translated by Kosho Yamamoto and edited by Dr. Tony Page) states:

  One who eats meat kills the seed of great compassion... O Kasyapa! I, from now on, tell my disciples to refrain from eating any kind of meat. O Kasyapa! When one eats meat, this gives out the smell of meat while one is walking, standing, sitting or reclining. People smell this and become fearful. This is as when one comes near a lion. One sees and smells the lion, and fear arises. O good man! When one eats garlic, the dirty smell is unbearable. Other people notice it. They smell the bad smell. They leave that person and go away. Even from far off, people hate to see such a person. They will not come near him. It is the same with one who eats meat. It is a similar situation with all people who, on smelling the meat, become afraid and entertain the thought of death. All living things in the water, on land and in the sky desert such a person and run away. They say that this person is their enemy. Hence the Bodhisattva does not eat meat.

  I dont know about people, but animals probably smell the scent?.. So to be one with all life.. Might one need to purify themselves of such things?..

  Life renews itself.. But its the compassion of choosing against unnecessary suffering. And to enjoy its beauty instead perhaps?..

  A flower only holds its scent when connected to the vine..Is it more beautiful living on the bush, or wilting in my vase?..

  I think it's true that many obese people are actually starving to death.  Simply because they are eating "dead" food (i.e., not alive w/ life force food).  Even though they are stuffing themselves full of fast, processed, cooked foods, they are not getting the nutrients they need.  Hence they are still hungry shortly after a big meal.  Then they eat more dead food to fulfill the hunger.  It's amazing how a freshly picked fruit or veggie tastes, as well as, the rush of life it gives you.  Nothing like a fresh tomato (organic of course) from the garden!  :D

  While I'm vegetarian myself and aprove the overall message, this article is horrible.

  It doesn't link to any source for the so much referenced "scientific studies".

  Not a single one!

  If you are going to do claims with scientific basis, you are turning you article to a scientific publication and you got to provide the research or results of such claims.

    scientific refrenceses are one thing but also few non meat eating members here and on countless other sites, swearing for this diet, is far more evidence ..............................

  I would not say it's "wrong" to eat meat.  It's a choice.  Personally, I don't eat meat, other than a little fish here and there... I guess that makes me a pescatarian.  Humans are omnivorous judging from the teeth.  We do have sharp canines designed for meat eating.  There are plenty of indigenous people who eat meat due to harsh environments (e.g., Eskimos).  In my opinion, meat eating has gone out of control over the last century, though.  These modern meat processing plants are horrible to the animals.  And I think most of us are aware of the poisons put into the animals.  My personal belief is that it is "wrong" to support this type of meat processing and the cruelty to animals.  But I also think there are certain types of human who need/crave meat...at least for a portion or at times in their lives.  Some humans never need meat.
