Is Ego completely unnecessary?

I still havent got a full understanding about the word "ego"... well I have heard that ego should better be let go completely and i understand what that means in most cases... there is too much ego and this is the main problem on this planet

but: dont we need a certain amount of ego ?...for the strength of will which is needed in many situations, especially when creating new things...because a good intention is not always enough for creating...we also have to have a willpower to create something. Example: when i start something new, i have many obstacles on my way ... i need a certain amount of strength of will to stay focused, not to give up etc.

Without creation there is no moving forward...all life is about creation, where we are powerful co-creators.

Has the willpower anything to do with our ego at all? or am i mixing terms?

(also when we are talking: power, sun energy, 3rd chakra, manifesting...)

I would love to hear about your understanding on this.

Peace and love!

Laura

  • oh i know it can be frustrating (for the "ego" lol;)) if you write a long passage and it is all gone and you have no copy  :( i really dont know why some replies dont work, already sent a short message to acc on that

i would like to know what was in the missing lines...what you all have to say... but thank you for your understanding!

  • A good tip is to Post a comment, and post what you want to say in a "reply" to that comment like I've done above.

  • I like what Bashar says, you can't destroy the ego, not at our level at least, so you mays well work with it, but let it know...that it's not in control, it's job is to be a servant...the ego is in the mind, and the mind is a servant, it's a tool....the thing is, people get so identified with their minds and their thoughts, and let their thoughts basically rule them....they don't know how to still the mind and be the presence behind the thoughts, that's our true self.

I think as long as we're in some state of separation, we'll always have some type of ego. Because the ego works with separation, the mind works with separation, and focuses on what's out there. It always looks at things and separates them, analyzes them, figures them out...and it's important. But ultimately, it's an illusion. We aren't our minds, the mind is a tool to work with this dualistic universe.

And I've been in egoless states, of just pure being and presence...and it's not ideal. Because we can't just be all the time, we need to DO things in this life too, and you need a bit of ego for that. I've also been in states of pure purity....and it's not ideal either, not in this realm. Maybe at like the 9th or 10th dimension, it's normal to be like that lol But not here.

So like Bashar says, let's work with the ego, negotiate with it....let it know, you're not trying to kill it.....and hopefully we'll create a situation where it's win-win for all sides.

    • thank you very much ,well my conclusion... the ego is ME, "what i am" here in this presence, and the higher self (higher mind) is the real I AM, the "ultimate ME", " what i really am". ...and these 2 are in a constant conversation,  they should be friends, thus the Higher Self of course has more to say, because it is real, it knows all your fragments, the ego only knows your fragments here in this incarnation...

    • Ego can be used for both bad and good. It is just the motvating force in us and cannot be destroyed, so don't try and destroy it.

When ego is used with the separate concious mind, the disconnected identity, then it can becomes too self serving and will cut you out from the rest of the world. It will make your actions "I" oriented.

When ego is used with the Christ conscious mind,  the I AM awareness of what you really are, then it has its true power. It can be used in this way to create peace and help out the world.

Ego is simply a tool, and is up to you on how you used it.

    • like they said

Ego is a mind construct and doesn't exist without thought. Yet needed while on earth by most of us.

If one is totally identified with god source, (our essential nature), ego dissolves on its own.

Till we reach that point, ego serves a purpose, yet has it's own agenda, its own self survival needs, which aren't necessarily in our own best interest.

Since ego (self thoughts)  can be and likely IS a false representation of who we really are ,based on things we've been taught or picked up... it is a less than ideal guide to living on earth.   A less than perfect road map.

Our heart however, knows the truth about everything.... and is a far better roadmap... one most of us fail to trust. Myself included... but we try and learn.

Ego is far from an enemy , yet not really our best friend, as it separates us from others, and the truth about our true selves.

  • The Ego is actually a Good thing, It gives you a sense of identity and can be used to artificially give you self esteem.

However it has its place, and that place is not at the steering wheel of your life. This is the danger you have to be mindful of, and the balance that has to be maintained.

If you reject the Ego completely you will eventually Disempower yourself, which would also mean you were not Loving yourself. And that would create some other kind of dark series of events in your path.

Your Ego is a part of you, if you dont love it, on some level you are refusing to love yourself.
