It was written in 1955, by Sy Miller and Jill Jackson Miller. I think it is the purest, and most beautiful expression of our souls collective longing that has even been written.
The words of this simple chorus that has been sung by countless children's choirs and performers all over the world. They are almost childlike in their simplicity, but their message is powerful; and full of wisdom, longing, vision, and INTENT.
I found myself meditating on them and singing the song throughout the day and what transpired was for me miraculous because those words became engraved on my soul, it was almost as if my soul had the ability to loop that prayer, to speak it over and over without pause and project it with a focused intent I never knew existed. It didn't matter what was going on in my life, or what my circumstances were, I was broadcasting peace 24/7.
For me that is huge, because it seems the life and circumstances I chose to experience this time around were lack, abuse, chaos, and staying positive in a very negative environment. I have spent most of my life, surviving my life, so focus and intent fell by the wayside for the most part. Recently I quipped to a friend..."I wonder if lightworkers can get fired?".. because my circumstances, and the negative family situations seemed to suck everything out of me. So feeling this constant stream of intent is miraculous for me!
The thought occurred to me today that if we all did meditated on the words of this song at least once a day,how much faster would that PEACE manifest on Earth? So I am asking you all to join with me in making this song your plea. The lyrics are written below.
As I am at my deepest root a writer- inevitably what resulted from my meditation was the addition of a bridge and another verse- (which you can include in your meditation if you feel lead) They were not written to alter or change the spirit of the song, they were simply the expression of my voice echoing the prayerful longing that the original chorus inspires. Imagine if each of us not only adopt this song as our plea, but are inspired to birth a new verse?! Imagine what the result would be...
Let There Be Peace On Earth
Let there be Peace on Earth,
And let it begin with me.
Let there be Peace on Earth,
The Peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father, brothers all are we-
Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony.
Let Peace begin with me,
Let this be the moment now.
With every breath I take,
Let this be my solemn vow...
To take each moment and live each moment
in peace eternally...
Let there be Peace on Earth and let it begin with me.
It just takes one voice to start singing,
For others to join in the song
And one single light in the darkest of night
Can ignite countless flames
that burn brilliant and bright
Let there be Peace on Earth,
And open our eyes to see.
Each thought and word we speak
Is shaping our destiny.
For God is our Father, but our will is free.
Let us love one another, in perfect harmony.
Let there be Peace on Earth,
let love reign in every land.
Now while there yet is time,
Please help us to understand.
As we unite as we shine our light,if this song
becomes our plea...
There will be Peace on Earth,
Finally a Peace on Earth,
Let there be Peace on Earth,
And let it begin with me!
