If you know me, you know I am SO down with discussing, theorizing, connecting, intending. But maybe there is a way we can now put some of our understandings and feelings to some actual use on the physical plane? Personally I have zero funds for any activity, and very few skills but the artistic, emotional, and a flare for activism. But here are a couple ideas that we may be able to build on?
-Organize some kind of consciousness raising event in your community. Show a film, get someone to do a talk, do a talk yourself, do a radio show or a community TV special, organize a rally. Find members in your area that would be willing to help, or enlist your friends and family (bribe them with cookies etc if you have to lol).This is what I'm currently up to, as it's very low cost and only requires activist and organizational skills.
-Do we have any mechanics in the house? Volunteer to help people convert their dirty old cars to something that runs on electric, solar, water, hydrogen, etc. The specs are out there, but it takes someone with the mechanical knowledge to implement it, and an investment by the person with the old style technology who wants to upgrade it. If you've got the cash, maybe buy the parts and convert a few for free, just to get the ball rolling, and do it in a highly public place where everyone can see... ;)
-Do we have any chemists in the house? Start a project to grow Spirulina algae for the hungry and set a trend, instructions here: http://www.antenna.ch/en/documents/Jourdan_UK.pdf Grow it, dry it, and send it to places where people are starving. It's a complete food (a person can live on a few grams a day), it's extremely light weight (cheap to ship), takes a minimal investment to start, and it doesn't take an awful lot of resources to grow (can live in brackish ponds and stale water, if you have the knowledge to test for the proper conditions). Or just start up a community garden to feed the homeless if you can find land, there's always that :)
-Any engineers in the house? Help people get off the grid, at least partially. Convert to solar and wind power for their homes and businesses, set up composting toilets, water collection and filtration systems. This one's a bit tricky cause people have to be willing to spend a little money for the materials, but you would be surprised at how many people with the funds would jump at the chance if someone just stepped up and said, "Hey, I'll set it all up for you, no worries!".
-Any medical/psychological professionals or healers in the house? Set up a booth or a tent somewhere you are allowed to and do free work for those in need. Sure they may have to sign a release form, but I am willing to bet people would be happy to sign a release form in exchange for free healing, particularly the "underclass". Energy workers, spiritual healers, you don't need a release form to do what you do, so if you are comfortable financially and have energy to spare, you have absolutely no excuse not to be doing this!
I could go on and on, there are so many ways we can help people with whatever skills we have. Intention and discussion are absolutely wonderful, but if we could actually take some actions we might see things change much more quickly than we imagined they would. What are your ideas (everyone has good ones), what are your skills (everyone has them), what can be done in your area (always something that can be done), are there other AC folks around that could help you?
