His return heralded by a siren's blare and the cries of a happy nation, the first of 33 Chilean miners emerged into a cool desert night early Wednesday after being trapped underground for 69 harrowing days. Florencio Avalos made the bumpy 20-minute ride to the surface as eager family members and anxious strangers watched from around the world the developments at the San Jose mine. He emerged wearing green coveralls, blinking in the bright lights and to the cheers and applause of the rescue team.

    I'm so happy that they all got out safely. Like many others I watched the first man come out and went right into the arms of his little boy. Such a wonderful moment! :D

    This is a wonderful story.
    The awakening of christ-counsciousness which is 33,
    the world united in praying for these people,
    feeling the power of their re-birth.
    We all share the experience of the good ending now.

    This story is just made to distract people from what's really going on..33 miners trapped for 66 days? first one escapes the 13th? Don't you see this is rigged? x_x

      This happens commonly. Whenever there is a news story blocking all other news stories, I wonder what's going on in the world that they are distracting us from...

      There was something sneaky being signed into law the day the airwaves were being choked up with Anna Nicole Smith's death. ... or it was nuclear non-proliferation talks in Israel...

      but look out for those days when there is only one story in the news...

      yes....i agree with this... but for make this happen...it means that we must have the capability to mine "stuff"...without the use of human personnel...but by automation... do we have these capabilities???...we need the ones in the know, to inform us about that....i believe, that we do have this capability... as for to stop completely the mining.,...i dont know....can we do that now??..or we still use things that comes from mining???
