  An exact measurement and then an electromagnetic device that can utilize solar radiation to cut the distance? Some thing like this will probably be viable in the 4rth dimension -I'm guessing the physics are more pliable for this in the 4rth-

  And the Hollywood gives a totally misleading picture of what a 'wormhole' is! As you can see, we have some spaceship approaching a 'bottomless pit' which the call it 'stargate', and latter explain it as an 'Einstein rozen bridge'!
  
  But if you were standing near a wormhole, you won't see a 'tunnel'. Everything looks like in the usual space, exept that you will be seeing objects in different places other than where they would be, without the wormhole. A star, for instace, will just look nearer, but never like 'at the other side of the tunnel'. The point of view under which a wormhole looks like a tunnel does not exist, at least note, within a 3d or 4d universe. Some objects will also appear duplicate near a wormhole. All in all, it will not even be easy to tell that you are near a wormhole! It requires a very careful measurement.

  ...provided that the star gates are not the so called Einstein-Rozen Bridges. This latter belongs to the same category as Von-Neumann Probes, Warp-Drives and other mainstream's hopeless concoctions. These might as well better belong in comedy rather than physics!😆

  RL-star gates-regular doorways and as large as air plane hangars-Musk can roll his rockets, etc. onto Mars and assemble there-then mine Phobos and Deimios -roll all equip needed to mine for water for oxegen and hydrogen bring other gasses from earth needed and create an electromagnetic field with nuke equip or other sources of energy-release the gasses and -bob's your uncle-you've got an atmosphere-easy as that
