  Countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia etc exuses their incongruous presence in places like Somalia by the slippery slope logical fallacy: 'if we don't fight 'terrorist' in Somalia, we will soon or later have to fight them in Kenya,..'
  
  But now look at how Uyghur is just adjacent to Afghanistan but China zeros in on 'trying to prevent radicalization in Uyghur itself' rather than trying to fight 'terrorism' in Afghanistan! You see a crucial difference between China and US?

  There are many people making a simplistic comparison between China and U.S. or Soviet Union. One significant difference between US etc and China is that the later does not project military power. Iran and Turkey project power more than China do! We, for instance, din't see China in Afghanistan even though, sharing the border, and having some concerns about 'terrorism in Uyghur region', had an excellent exuse to avail itself there! Compare this with Turkey in Syria and Libya, Israel in lebanon and Syria, Iran in both Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Hamas, Russia in Syria, Libya etc, Ethiopia in Somalia, Kenya in Somalia, Uganda in South sudan,...the list is endless.
  
  So, no, China is unique in this area! It does not project power anywhere despite having economic ability to do so!
