  No there is nothing to worry about projects that are based on a lack of understanding because they are doomed to fail!! Computer is a mechanical device that is very easy to understand, and of couse there is no way consciousness can come out from such mindless activities as those going on in a computer. Human memory does not work like a computer. We cannot say 'human memory is full' because there is no such a 'tank' in the brain where we can say 'here the memory is stored'. No matter how much the 'soul' learn, it can never get 'overloaded' because the ability to withstand knowledge grows in proportion to the knowledge, just like in every living organ. You needed not to worry about your muscle supporting your weight as you grow, because as you grow bigger, the muscles grow stronger as well. Now any attempt to mimick human memory without this faculty will not be reproducing the real thing, and therefore that will not be your authentic self being reproduced in the comp, and therefore there is absolutely nothing to worry about!

  Don't take those dreams too literally. The problem of 'too much experience' will have to be solved first, or perhaps was first solved, before the harder problem of 'immortality' was or is solved! You are like worrying about how to stear a car as compared to how to make one! You are saying 'cars will crash for failure to turn in coners'. You are worrying about simpler problems while taking it for granted that the barely imaginable 'resurrection', 'immortality' or 'trapping souls' is easily done!!! Your worries are totally out of place!

  What the article is talking of is a computer program that MIMICS a person and then followed by presenting the person's hologram as it the person is actually there. This, they, metaphoricaly call 'resurrecting the person'. But of course such is not a resurrection!! There is no need to worry about 'slaving the soul' or insisting that such a research be stopped because it is completely harmless! It is just like recording the voice of a human and then saying 'the dead person is still speaking'. Then taking the metaphor LITTERALY we begine worrying that 'they are trapping souls'!!

  No need to stop such developments because the developments are not what you think they are! You are failing to discern mere metaphors are ridiculous exaggerations presented in the article! Is an hologram of a person conscious? Nope! No more than a picture is! The hologram takes the information only pertaining to the SURFACE of the body. Even more, the reconstructed hologram is not the exact 'surface'. Holograms are just like pictures. The 'skin' appearing in a picture is not the same material as the real skin. It is inert chemicals and dies that merely looks like the skin. The picture has very remort chance of becoming like a real skin, with leaving cell etc. The same thing applies to hologram.
  
  However, we can, IN PRINCIPLE make a 'living hologram'. But I think such a technology is way into the future. When it comes, we must first check if you can reproduce a stone before you worry about reproducing a human, let alone their soul! You are worrying about something that be possible only in 6000 years to come!!
