 Amateur Astronomers Discover 42 Alien Planet |

A team of amateurs has discovered evidence for 42 alien planets, including a Jupiter-size world that could potentially be habitable, by sifting through data from a NASA spacecraft.
Forty volunteers with the crowd-sourcing Planet Hunters project discovered the new planet candidates, which include 15 potentially habitable worlds and PH2 b, a Jupiter-size planet that the team confirmed to be in the habitable zone of its parent star.
This is the second time Planet Hunters project, which is overseen by Zooniverse, has confirmed a new exoplanet discovery. What's more, several candidate planets found by the project may be in the habitable zones of their parent stars. These candidates are awaiting confirmation by professional astronomers.

LONG BEACH, Calif. — A possible alien planet discovered by NASA's Kepler space telescope is the most Earth-like world yet detected beyond our solar system, scientists say.
With a radius that is just 1.5 times that of Earth, the potential planet is a so-called "super-Earth," meaning it is just slightly larger than the Earth. The candidate planet orbits a star similar to the sun at a distance that falls within the "habitable zone" — the region where liquid water could exist on the planet's surface. Scientists say the planet, if confirmed, could be a prime candidate to host alien life.
"This was very exciting because it's our fist habitable-zone super Earth around a sun-type star," astronomer Natalie Batalha, a Kepler co-investigator at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., said Tuesday (Jan. 8) here at the 221st meeting of the American Astronomica

Thanks for the pics, FW. The big one is the center of our Galaxy and I love the crosses in the meddle of each star. I guess that makes our Earth 1, just another dot in the universe. But a important one, thats why everyone is here and not elsewhere, because here is where it is happening. WOW, FW, did you see these no# 2,75 hits in 24 hrs. That means people are really interested in Earth 2 or the New Earth. Thats even more than my other post on the explosion of charged particles in the center of Galaxy ,that I did earlier this wk. In fact its the most I ever seen anyone get in 24hrs. I think that tells us something, that they want to know more about what's going on out there, not just what is going on here on old Earth, you think.Adonai
