Actually it is a fat lie! Chief justic is selected by the president. So in this sense the president has more authority. But the chief justice can declare the election of the very president fraudulent. So in this sense the chief justice has more authority than th president. The chief justice can overrule parliament decision. So in this sense the chief justice has bigger authority than the perliament. The perliament approves the selection of the chief justice. So in this sense the perliament has more authority than the chief justice. The president can dissolve the perliament. So in this sense the president has more authority than the perliament. The perliament can impeach the president. So in this sense the perliament has more authority than the president.
So legitimacy of authirity is as questionable as it ever was. Infact the ancient world was far better in some ways. The armies were never seperate from the democratic society and the discipline of obedience to only one voice: the king, was instilled by some faith in the legitimacy of the king's authority.
As people criticise the middle eastern theocratic tendencies, they forget that from there they got the foundation of the government and the middle easterners still have some understand of government better, especially how to erect one from total chaos
Yea, we are living in it right now. Openly, no more hiding. Maybe not a bad thing, to know 'the opposition' and it intention.
searching for God connection have many path, but following anything or anybody that kills in the name of God - have no future.
Infact the bible surmarized well how, for example, the kingdom of Israel and Judah came about. First there were purely religious leaders captured even better in the book of judges. These leaders never intended to rule people, at least not, permanently. You can see Gideon, for instance, turning down the offer to be made a king of Israel. Latter, of course, the greed for power outdid the search for God. We find latter kings doing everything to retain power, including killing their own children!
Even though you are right about using religion (fear) to control, govern, it was not created to control people.
God can be realized only in the realms of human experience; the true concept of the reality of God is reasonable to logic, plausible to philosophy, essential to religion.
In its true essence, religion is a faith-trust in righteousness. Righteousness implies that God is the source of the moral law of the universe.
