How to remove belief systems effectively

Each person has a myriad of belief systems that define who they are. No one person looks at the world in the exact same way as another. These belief systems are gained through experiences in this life and previous lives. They also form a combination of the beliefs of your mother and father which you inherit at birth. Belief systems are stored in the subconscious and have the ability to help or hinder you from achieving your goals. Essentially, they dictate what you experience in your life. After all, what you expect is what you get.

Although some beliefs may appear to be of no benefit to you at all, each belief that you hold has a positive purpose otherwise your subconscious would not hold onto it. Therefore it is important to note that you must teach your subconscious that it can gain the positive effect that this belief system has in another, less painful manner. This is the basis of effective belief removal.

You will be amazed at the effect that the removal of key beliefs has on your attitude to life. Although, they can be painful to remove at times due to the trauma that they have caused you, the ultimate benefit of happiness far out-ways the negative side effects. An interesting benefit that comes from the removal of limiting beliefs is the betterment of your manifesting ability. This is invaluable to creating the life that you want as the better your manifesting ability is, the faster the things you most desire will come into your life. There are many other benefits of removal of beliefs that will become more apparent to you as you practice.

Look at it this way, each major problem in your life reflects an issue or limiting belief to you. For instance, if you are constantly fighting with an individual they are reflecting an aspect of yourself that you do not like back into your face. If you want to solve these problems in this quickest and easiest way possible, you must address and modify the limiting beliefs that you are holding.

I remember that I was continuously fighting with an unnamed person because they were always depressed. I used to think, why are you always so negative and would then try and shut down this negativity. It reached boiling point one day when we had an open screaming match about her depression. This activated some extreme emotions in me, and caused the issue that I was facing to come straight to the surface. It soon became clear to both of us that the reason that we were fighting was not because either of us where bad people, but because we both had depression. I was in such denial about suffering from depression that I hid it beneath the surface and let it eat me from the inside. Looking back, it was of no surprise that I rejected any person that showed signs of having depression to. By rejecting their depressive tendencies  I was rejecting myself. Once I was able to realize that I was depressed, I was able to change the relevant beliefs and address the trauma that had caused it to be so. It was a lengthy process but one that I was able to overcome.

For people just beginning, the hardest aspect of belief changing is identifying the core belief that is holding the behavioral pattern in place. For instance, if you are chocking in tennis matches, a belief that you may have would be “I don’t deserve to win in sport.” However, this is often associated with a deeper belief that is effecting your whole life. For instance, continuing with the example the individual might believe that she does not deserve to win in sport, which would be linked to believing that they are not good enough in life.

In the beginning, I would sit down with a piece of paper and pen and start of by asking myself why I had the problem. I would come up with a belief and then continuously ask myself why I believed that until I got to a deep emotional problem. Once I got to the deepest level, I would intuitively pickup when I first experienced this problem and examine what was going on in my life at that time. From that I was usually able to associate a traumatic incident with a belief, release the trauma and then release the belief and replace it with another.

Today, I use guidance meditation to release beliefs. I will ask what is ultimately causing the problem and then will ask them to help me resolve it. This usually involves going in, clearing the negative energy of the belief, recognizing how it has served me and then replacing it with a suggested replacement belief. As always, do what works best for you.

One of the most important aspects of changing beliefs is being of gratitude for the service that they have paid you in the past. For instance, many people could not associate any positive effects of having an illness. However, many people create illnesses to show themselves that their family and friends truly love and support them. An example is a cancer patient that believes that they are not loved. As they are diagnosed and begin to become very sick, people show large amounts of affection and admiration for the courage that they display in fighting this illness. Illness often provides love and support for people. Thus, you must be grateful for the positives that the belief has given you and then recognize that you can continue to experience these positives without it. Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions in the universe, especially in healing so use it to your advantage.

The last aspect of changing beliefs is staying in awareness. Many of these beliefs/ patterns may reappear in your life subtly, especially if you have had them for your whole life. If you can be aware of this, you can stop them from controlling you once again. If you sense that the pattern is rearing its head again, simply say to yourself

“I see how you worked for me in the past and I thankyou for that. However it is not in my highest good to have you anymore. I have moved past you. Thankyou.”

Don’t get bitter at the belief for coming back as that will not solve anything, however, be grateful again and then watch it go away.

  • With all due respect for the vehicle your using.

IMO, your still playing with the matrix,,  just because spirit is driving around this world in your avatar.  Like driving a car around town just because you’re the driver of that car you cant turn the car into the driver..  The avatar will never become spirit -- trying to turn a car into a human being is very foolish. Spirit trying to turn the human into spirit is even worse.  And will never happen no matter how hard any religion try’s to worship it into existence.  Ashes to ashes dust to dust avatar’s are of this physicality and will return to it. Spirit on the other hand is not of this world but in the avatar as you are in your car.  The car will never turn into a human, no matter what kind of paint job you give it or soup up the engine -- because it of this world…………the matrix has tricked the mind and body in bereaving it can become more than just a car,  totally for getting about the driver that is not of the car but in it…….

Keep playing with the matrix you will never make the car a light bulb.   The matrix has had anything you can dream up ,, covered for millions of moons.   And has you believing you can change the car into a light being???????  The driver has always been the light in the vehicle and the vehicle will never turn into a light bulb………

  • Back to the subject of re-birthing, healing, born again, deprograming and reprograming also called awakening. All my life and many past life's I have tried to bring my darkness, my nemesis also called the Alter Ego or lower self - to the light. And of course it fought back all the way, had fits, tantrums ect. But in the last days I have been reflecting on this process of trying to bring the Dark into the light, I even saw it in the outside world and as a rebel Warrior light worker I would expose them and all the evil and dishonesty around me, I would throw back into the peoples face, Belize must be the most Dishonest and violent place in the world. So I have given up and retreated back to my little Plot of land. And now in reflection I have come to see that this doesn't work not for me nor the world around me. Maybe its the other way around, we should bring the light to the Darkness!! instead of trying to bring the Darkness to the light. This must be the way they do it in the Spirit Realm ,Huh.Adonai

  • Peace Brother..

  • Yes one designated Peter - pulling avatar to curb getting off the cell phone of the mind, closing eye’s and centering in the “Now” as the traffic whizzes by, I am untouched in the bliss of the heart spirit.  A place of all definitions and knowing but yet none in this world.  In it not of it.  Peace my friend and knowing.

  • Dear John,

the matrix has all bases covered bar one.

The Home base that exists within us.

    The heart.

  • Ahhh , what you speak of is still playing with the millions of years the matrix has had to trap us in this bubble of tricks and deceptions all aimed at the avatar you drive as spirit in the world but not of it.

Each turn has been covered by the matrix nothing is left untouched -- color, make, model, programming, governors on speed, distance, visibility, understanding in how it all works -- there is absolutely nothing left undone for you to wiggle out of this cage the matrix has prepared to entrap the avatar you drive threw life.  Even the control we think we have is part of the matrix.

The spirit on the other hand has no, subconscious beliefs, binders, or governing powers over or above it. The only way the matrix has a grip on things is controlling the avatar we occupy.   The power of  “NOW” by  Echkart  Tolle in a nut shell is what St. Paul said  there is no condemnation for those who walk in spirit.   And this can only be done by the death of the avatar playing in the matrix.  By staying focused in the ever eternal “now”  so the matrix is bent on keeping the mind and body occupied with past and future never letting the body and mind rest in the peace of NOW.

Even this little rant, I had to refer to the matrix to point at what is not of this matrix -- spirit - You the one with no name of designation given by the parents of this matrix.

  • And when you can't find the courage to forgive,

the universe takes matters into its own hands for you.

    serves up the humility option.

Forgiveness is a much more pleasant way of doing things.

  • All of the above and tjose below can work and will work to the same degree of effort put into them. And as you said once you begin to work on ones belief system, one realizes that the mind plays a big part as does the heart. So one then searches for even better ways to do this thing. I wrote and tough the process of deprograming and re-programing until I came upon a better way, one that I refused to look at for many a year. And that was to learn "Forgiveness" I finally gave in and started reading and practicing daily the Teaching of JC in "A Course In Miracles". 7-1/2 yrs later I am still working with it. "Forgiveness" Deletes the old programing, such as forgiving all those who have hurt us in the past and present and then we have to "Forgive" ourselves and all those we have hurt, past and present. And you were right about the healing thing, all healing starts and ends in the mind. That one was the hardest thing to swallow, that pill of cure all, just didn't wont to go down.I had to take a lot of holy water to get it down. Thanks to all, in the idea that we are one. Adonai
  • I see where both of you are coming from. There are a thousand different ways to approach evolving and becoming your true self, and different ways work better for different people. I wrote this as an example of how I approached it when I was beginning with healing work. Now I mainly undertake the process that feather suggests. I am more focused on awareness and usually vary the way I approach a healing session from the guidance that I get. Also John I agree with your point about attachment to form. Echkart Tolle's work was very influential to my growth and it speaks much about the points that you have arisen. Thanks for reading guys!

  • I don't think belief systems themselves are the problem really. Everyone has belief systems, even to able to dream, or have goals....requires a certain amount of belief. Most things in life do lend themselves to belief and faith, particularly things you don't experience firsthand. So...it's normal to have beliefs.

I think the problem comes, when people become overly attached to their beliefs....and put so much of their identity into it, they stop being who they are, truly. I know first hand, the more you drop identifications with outside identities, you become more of your real self, just a being. You're just being, you just are...I am that I am. That's it, every other identification, ultimately, is an illusion. But there are people, so trapped in belief systems, and over-identification with them....it's sad to see sometimes.

So I think that's the real problem, it's not so much the beliefs themselves, as it is, the attachment and over-identification.
