For the past few years I have been following the channelings of Ashtar and other Ascended Masters via human channels. The information has helped me grow and expand and given me a deeper understanding about life and my purpose for being here.
I have also seen how fanatical people have become about 2012 with the idea that suddenly on the 1st of January 2013 the world is going to become `` heaven on earth``. Millions of people desperate to fix their problems they will believe anything they read. Self-help books selling in the millions!
The other day I was in the bookshop looking at some of the card packs for sale, and found a pack by Doreen Virtue. What got my interest was that these cards were printed in China. Makes me wonder where her priorities lie.
Has the whole new age thing become just another money making racket?
We know that there is an awakening happening on the planet, but on the 1st of Jan 2013, you will still have to pay rent, buy food and have everyday problems to deal with.
Believing that Ashtar with his forever `` Dear ones, you are loved`` (what a clique this has become) statement is not going to fix your problems. You will still have issues to resolve, and no amount of wishing will change that.
We have put these ascended masters onto a pedestal, yet through all there teachings they tell us quiet clearly it is us humans who have chosen the most difficult path, by agreeing to come to this planet.
We made the choice to come here and with that choice comes certain responsibilities.
I have reached a point where I don’t take much notice of the channelings except to have a good laugh at the comments about the channelings. I am tired of reading the same old speech from The Galactic Federation, about so called mass landings, de-cloaking etc. It now bores me silly. I don’t need proof or confirmation, whether they even exist.
Every year millions of children around the world believe Santa will be delivering presents, or the tooth fairy will pay them a visit. I am yet to meet either.
As a sensible person I shall continue with life and deal with things that come my way, knowing that each experience helps me grow as a person, and that I am fully responsible for my own actions, and no ascended master can walk my path for me.

I agree that certainly some people are turning a profit at fear mongering about 2012, and new ages gurus can make a lot of money doing conventions, videos and books... it's sort of forces you to do your own inner work though doesn't it? Just proves you cannot rely on an outside source for enlightenment, I admit I have trouble with the fact that some lightworkers do without because they are so humble and don't value money, and give everything they have... while others are millionaires... but everything will work out regardless of what happens in Dec of 2012. I try to learn as much as I can without holding expectations, which can be limiting.
I do know that this is a wonderful and exciting time and that is enough for now :)
Doreen virtue is a nice lady; but its also about money too... sad to say it;
its like the musician enya... she started off making great music... and i dunno what happened.... her cd's changed as she progressed... as if she got tainted by the pressure of the money system
Sadly, yes the new age movement is big business. You only need to observe the Mind Body Spirit Festivals.
Some people own new age shops - yet don't even read or have an understanding of any enlightened material. To them it IS just a business and a good one at that.
As for those channellings, there are many messages that promise a bed of roses. Sorry but major changes on Earth cannot happen overnight like that - as if we wake up to a world full of daisies, and a lion sleeping down with a lamb in peace. There will be some hard times ahead but people just want to bury their heads in the sand about this. And no we can't predict dates either but just be knowledgeable and do our best to educate ourselves.
What I'm seeing in the new age movement is that many people want to believe the fairytales and 'channellers' are telling people what they want to hear. False prophets. Similar to a clairvoyant who feeds people bs. to just tell a person what they want. However New Age is the closest I can get to many other truths, particularly about teaching love over fear. So I take that information and do my own other research.
Doreen Virtues dream was to own her house by the beach. She made this happen but her conferences were very $$$.
Find information that resonates with you. And be careful who you donate to (as many other new age websites always ask for donations yet some are very tricky making out they are mystics.
its funny people call it new age, when its really OLD AGED stuffs... lol
yep lots of things to buy buy in "new age" , its a purchase economy...
yes sometimes i think some people are out in this to make money, i suppose they do have bills to pay.
I cant really sit and judge them, i dont know them, and as for channellings i take it with a pinch of salt. I can channel myself, its more fun then reading a long love letter...
The posts the last few days seem to be full of dire warnings about our prepardeness to ascend. Your discussion comes at a great time for me as suddenly they went from positive messages to ones saying if we are not doing enough we can be left behind. I am confused and a little scared this morning. I thought we had time if everything was not being done perfectly. I have been meditating daily, doing unto others, helping the poor for decades, raising my vibrations. No, I am not perfect at all and am working on those things. What is going on or is it just in my head? This is the first time I have felt this way.
