This lesson keeps getting fed back to me: The value of clearing and completion cannot be overstressed.

I see it everywhere I look.

In several readings, I’ve been asked to relax and have more fun. And in my half-hearted attempts, I watched a few (old western) movies and tried a few computer games.

And there was one computer card game that conveyed that same lesson again: the value of completion cannot be overstressed.

Suffice it to say that the card game requires the player to sort out random cards into alternate-suit rows. When that task is complete, the cards cascade into four piles, now arranged in same suits. Once all the cards are in the piles, the game is won.

First there was the untangling of the cards; then their liberation. First there was completion; then there was ascension.

What I imagined I saw was value accumulating in the cards in the piles. They seemed to me to be like gold coins falling into a treasure box.

I saw completion of a row resulting in the release of value. I daresay that was not what I was supposed to do.

The epiphany that resulted was that completion unlocks the value in us. Why can the value of completion not be overstressed? Because it unlocks value.

Value – whatever value represents to us – is just waiting to be released and completing with something releases it. Previously we were invested in defending something, protecting it. And now we’ve let go and set it free.

The value that was tied up in us until that moment, now released, becomes available to us again. It might be joy; it might be calmness; it might be self-confidence.

Ultimately our original innocence will become available to us. That seems to me to be the best prize at the end of this very valuable process of completion.

This process is different from remembering. It’s freeing up what was already there but, not forgotten so much as suppressed or overlain.

I could give an example from “real” life. I experienced release with a friend recently when she guided me to see that defending her harked back to defending my brother. No one is going to come between me and my brother. Period. End of conversation. Line in the sand.

Great vasana. Seeing it, becoming aware of it, and accepting it for what it was released a great deal of energy in me in that moment. I soared as a result of that piece of work, for which I thank my friend.

The value lying below the resistance is just waiting to be released. It’s held down, held back by the bands of muscular tension we weave into our bodies as a result of resisting something.

Awareness itself is the first victim of our holding our emotions and memories in, of creating character armor or bands of tension. Awareness varies inversely with muscular tension in the body. Therefore, more tension in the body, less awareness.

All the clearing work we’re doing – seeing our vasanas and acknowledging them, telling the truth, sharing a withhold, actually and really listening to someone – is releasing the value that was locked in there, waiting to be released.

We need to unlock that value. It lies hidden as a result of our conditioning. It doesn’t matter where that conditioning comes from or what it is. Wherever it does and whatever it is, we need to release ourselves from it and the suppression it brings.

The way to go deeper and deeper in this process is to complete, complete, complete. Clear, clear, clear. Tell the truth, tell the truth, tell the truth.

We needn’t complete with the individuals themselves. In many circumstances we can’t. It may end up having to be done with ourselves alone.

It isn’t a matter that can wait for the right circumstances. It has to be done while it’s up.

Completion unlocks the value in us.

Unlock the value in yourself. Get complete.

Thank you, computer card game. Thank you, Boss, for suggesting that I relax and have fun.

Mission accomplished.
