**Mysterious, unidentified, underwater ’blob’ captured on video**

Forget the Loch Ness Monster. There’s a new mysterious underwater creature that’s getting tongues wagging. But unlike Scotland’s mirage-like legend, this large gelatinous appendage that some experts are calling a Deepstaria Enigmatica has been captured on video.
The U.K.’s Daily Mail has images of the “whale-like blob” that were captured by a deep-sea remote-controlled underwater camera.
Though the milky mass looks like nothing that has ever been seen before, wild theories abound.
Everything from the remains of a whale’s placenta to a special type of jellyfish have been suggested, although the article notes that the object’s appendages and organs would make it unique among its slippery brethren.
One theory that experts have suggested is that it may be a Stygiomedusa Gigantea, a fish of the jelly variety that has only been spotted 114 times in almost as many years.
The rarely-studied (and thus perfectly named) Deepstaria Enigmatica jellyfish has also been proposed, although the mass’ host of irregularities —like its unusual organ placement — has also thrown that guess into murky waters.
